I can't say enough good things about this one. Read the ad and
watch the video to see why I think this one is extraordinary.
It's a real SS with #s matching 396 motor, 4-speed trans and 3.31
posi. Factory red car. Documented with original Protect-o-plate,
build sheet, glovebox pouch with literature, original title copy
and original registrations.
To top it off the car drives and functions like new. I really mean
that, I drove it home and it was amazing. Ran, shifted, steered,
stopped like new. But more than that there were no rattles, wind
leaks or squeaks. Everything I tried worked down to the clock.
EXTERIOR: I believe it to be original rust free metal. It is
straight as a rifle barrel. The gaps are square and flush. No
damage, cracks or blisters. Doors shut like new. It's a factory red
car without a vinyl top. The red is like glass. It looks like all
of the exterior chrome and stainless trim was replaced. It has
optional bumper guards and rear mount antenna. The glass is all
new. The windows roll up effortlessly and they fit right. It rolls
on new looking 15 inch Cragar wheels with BFG radial redline tires.
The jambs are slick. All the weatherstrips and window seals are
replaced.
INTERIOR: Restored from carpet to headliner. The seats have new
cushions and upholstery. The seat trim is new. The door panels,
armrests, window cranks and handles were replaced. All the metal

factory gauges in the dash and the knee knocker tachometer mounted
below the dash. The factory AM radio plays clear as a bell. New
glovebox liner. It has red deluxe seatbelts front and back. The
center console is good. It has the correct reverse lock out 4-speed
handle and a working clock and interior light. Overhead is a tight
fitting new headliner, new visors, mirror and working dome light.
Down on the floor is bright red carpet with red Maliu SS floor
mats.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Original vin number matching 396-325 horsepower
motor. The codes also match the protect-o-plate. It was rebuilt,
bored 30 over, has forged pistons, 11:1 compression, reconditioned
rods, reground crankshaft, high volume oil pump, true double roller
timing chain, hydraulic cam and lifters. The heads were completely
redone. New valves, springs, guides etc. On top is a GM factory
aluminum intake and dual feed Holley carb. This one came from the
factory with a Holley carb, it has a letter H on the stamp pad. It

washers are hooked up, it has glass fluid bottle. Correct radiator,
shroud, new clutch fan, GM hoses and clamps. The alternator looks
new. New chrome valve covers and air cleaner. Spring clamp battery
cables, the battery is bolted down. The metal surfaces are smooth
and painted nicely.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Super clean metal. I didn't see any cuts or
patches. Very neatly spatter painted. New wiring harness, seat
divider, weatherstrip and trunk mat. It has a rally wheel with a
new tire for a spare. The jack assembly looks new. Under the trunk
lid is painted slick.
UNDERSIDE: It had a body off frame restoration. The front end looks
like it has been apart and redone. The springs, shocks, steering
components and ball joints have been replaced. In back the
bushings, springs and shocks were replaced. The dual exhaust system
has stainless MagnaFlow mufflers. Brakes were redone. Hoses and
brake lines were replaced, the e-brake assembly is hooked up.
Looking up at the motor it's spotless Chevy orange, it has a high
torque starter. The Muncie 4-speed is vin number matching and the
codes match the protect-o-plate. It has it's original 12 bolt posi
rear with 3.31 gears. The codes match the protect-o-plate. The
floors appear to be super clean original metal. The braces, inner
rockers, even the lower inner quarters are clean.
This is a unicorn. The condition, colors, features, originality
make it extremely rare. Trust me, I drive hundred of vintage cars a
year. This is one the best!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure
your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do
a walk around video that explains the car's condition in
detail.
**These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a
particular car make an appointment with a salesman to see that car.
Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the
