Vehicle Description
There are two ways to look at this 1971 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. It's
a numbers-matching classic luxury coupe with plenty of comfort
features. It also is an upgraded car that has been given plenty of
power components on the motor and a vibrant upgrade to the factory
paint. And while this has two very distinct personalities, the
total package comes together to make for a terrific cruiser.
The Monte Carlo was the top echelon of the Chevy lineup. Their
personal luxury coupe looks fantastic in its correct Lime Green
color with a premium black vinyl roof. There's even a full-length
black pinstripe that coordinates with the roof and also shows off
the straightness of the sheet metal. But you can instantly tell
this is more than just a nice classic. The color was given a
respray later in life, and it has the kind of added metallic depth
that gives the paint an extra degree of pop in the sunshine. The
chrome bumpers, bezels, and rocker trim add to this polished
attitude. And the upgrade to American Racing Torq Thrust wheels
adds to both the brightness and the flair that this come seems to
master.
We love it when the roof color is a preview of what's inside. The
complete and well-presented condition of the black dash pad, door
panels, and carpeting is attractive. Plus, the burled walnut
simulated wood makes this feel like a time machine that's also
quite inviting. You'll even notice the right classic details like
the working dome light and AM radio that's there for display. This
is even a factory A/C car (it will need servicing to blow cold
again.) But more than just vintage, the dual personality gives you
quite a sporty package, too. You have the right factory-style
features for a driver's car, including the front bucket seats, a
center console in-between, and Chevy's iconic horseshoe shifter.
These are joined by great upgrades like a sports steering wheel and
an auxiliary gauge trio under the dash.
Under the hood is the original numbers-matching 350 cubic-inch V8.
Of course, all you have to do is take one look at the engine bay,
and you know that this one is far from stock. This has been
enhanced with a Holley four-barrel carburetor, Procomp polished
intake, and long tube headers feeding the dual exhaust. It's also
supported by the right upgrades, like an HEI ignition and a
Champion aluminum radiator. It makes for a coupe with added power
that also loves to run. In fact, that's why you also have easy
driving features like a three-speed automatic transmission, power
steering, wide BF Goodrich T/As, and power brakes with discs up
front.
This is a distinct coupe that likes to balance pedigree and flair.
