History About Ford's Model A400 Example:
As the original Ford Model A production was nearing completion,
Ford announced a special Convertible Sedan model in the Deluxe line
on May 22nd, 1931. The newly announced model would be called the
A400 and showcased a very unique set of attributes to appeal to the
customers wanting an attractive upscale sedan that combines the
open top convertible with closed car comforts! This included full
framed doors and rear quarter windows with glass that could be
rolled up and down, and a convertible top that lowered quickly and
folded flat at the rear. This structure provided a far more rigid
body that helps eliminate typical squeaks and rattles of the Deluxe
Roadster.
Each A400 would utilize Deluxe cowl lamps, left side spare wheel
well, genuine leather seat upholstery, simulated walnut wood
graining on the dash, garnish molding, & finish strips; fully
carpeted interior, receive an adjustable driver seat, rear seat arm
rests with depression in the floor for extra leg room, and chrome
exterior windshield frame and wiper. Ford's new Model A400 were
quite special, wonderfully attractive, and built in very limited
quantities! In fact, only 4,864 units were built for the domestic
USA market thru December 1931 when production stopped, with another
229 sold for export use. Finding an example of this caliper today
in the classic car market is extremely difficult!
