Vehicle Description
This 1957 Dodge Coronet Lancer is a beautifully restored Mopar that
harkens back to the "Forward Look" era. Dodge redesigned its
Coronet model line in 1957, giving it an entirely new profile from
every angle. Perhaps most apparent was a new "swept wing" that was
added to the rear quarter panels and gave the Coronet a brand new
appearance from the side and the rear. The front ends on the 1957
iteration of Dodge's products were substantially revised
stylistically as well, with the newly recessed front headlights
being placed under new chrome "brows" and a new gull-wing grille
design. The Coronets therefore had a wider, lower and longer body
that yielded a sleeker, more aerodynamic appearance. This new
aerodynamic look was a part of Chrysler's famous "Forward Look"
campaign which was the brain child of famed Chrysler designer
Virgil Exner who took design inspiration from the Lockheed fighter
jets of the day. 1957 was the second year for another
forward-looking design feature, the push-button automatic
transmission which was carried forward from the previous year and
became an iconic Chrysler feature into the future. Under the hood
on this Coronet is a 325 Cubic Inch V8 engine with a single 4
barrel carburetor. The 325 V8 is hooked up to an Automatic
Transmission that is shifted using the push-button shifter to the
left of the steering wheel inside passenger cabin. This Coronet
Lancer is particularly well optioned! Power steering makes getting
in and out of tight spaces much easier. With Power Brakes, this
Mopar has plenty of stopping power. Dual Exhaust gives this Mopar a
nice throaty sound. The exterior on this '57 Dodge Coronet has been
beautifully repainted in Gallant Gold and Glacier White, which is
believed to be the original two-tone color scheme. Sitting on 4
wide whitewall bias-ply tires with full wheelcovers that give this
Dodge a truly classic look. The front and rear bench seats have
been reupholstered in gold imitation leather with black cloth that
complement the overall look of the car. The dash, door panels and
steering wheel all appear to be in their stock configuration and
are in nice shape as well. The dash is equipped with a
"Scope-Sight" 120 MPH speedometer, amp gauge, fuel gauge, oil
pressure gauge, temperature gauge, and an AM radio. Whether you're
looking to buy your very first classic car, or you are a "wing car"
lover, this 1957 Dodge Coronet Lancer would be an excellent choice.
