Vehicle Description
With the arrival of the 1940 Fords, a new apex in style was
reached. Of the 10 available styles, arguably the most striking
example was the DeLuxe Convertible Coupe. Even today this Eugene
Gregorie design can elicit a gasp of delight. Top up or down, its
timeless style appeals both to those who like their old cars stock
as well as to hot rodders. - Auto Week
This 1940 Ford Deluxe Convertible Coupe is a pleasure to drive with
the 221 cubic inch V8 "Flathead" motor producing more than enough
power to drive anywhere the owner is ready to travel.
The "Flathead" engine is fueled by a two-barrel Stromberg 97
carburetor and delivers the power to a three-speed manual
transmission that is easily controlled by a column-mounted shifter.
A quick stop is delivered by the 4 drum brakes. This Deluxe starts
with the turn of a key and push of a button bringing the engine to
a smooth idle and a light rumble from the dual exhaust.
The Maroon exterior has a beautiful high gloss finish with very few
imperfections that are shown in the attached photos. The Light
Brown leather interior is in great shape with a split-bench front
and bench rear seating. The sand colored dash and faux woodgrain
trim add a nice contrast.
If you're looking for an early Ford that can be comfortably brought
for a long weekend cruise this Deluxe convertible coupe could be
the car for you.
