1965 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe Project Car
Car History
America's only true sports car, the Corvette, got subtle
refinements in the body in 1965 that continued to make it the car
many owners had to have.
We have a 1965 Corvette Coupe Project car here at Adventure
Classics that has a lot of originality but needs a complete
restoration to put it back the way it was originally or to use as a
great basis for a resto-mod.
Engine & Drivetrain
This Corvette has two engines, the one in it, and what we believe
to be the correct engine that came in these 65 Corvettes, a
#3782870 327 cubic inch small block Chevrolet V8 engine produced
from 1964-1966.
It has a ton of spare parts including the twin snorkel chrome and
black factory air cleaner, plain factory orange painted valve
covers, chrome factory engine spark plug wire shielding,
alternator, intake and carb, and on the Coupe the power steering
and brakes, air conditioning, and much more (see all the pictures)
and backed by an automatic transmission.
Interior
This Sting Ray has what seems to be the original correct code #407
red interior that also needs completely redone but has almost
everything there. It has the factory individual twin bucket- seats,
red carpet, door panels, dual sun visors, headliner, seatbelts,
console, electrical clock and radio controls and vent controls that
are located under the instrument panel on each side of the steering
column, matched speedometer and tachometer, cigarette lighter, hood
release, most other stock interior parts, and the great factory
wood steering wheel also.
Exterior
The styling changes on our 1965 Sting Ray were beautiful and ours
needs to be restored to gain back that beauty. It is now covered
with a maroon paint but the Trim Tag says that originally was a
silver.
It still has the Corvette and Stingray emblems, chrome front and
rear bumpers, taillights, door handles, the flip-up gas cap,
factory steel wheels with factory Corvette hubcaps and spinners,
and whitewall tires which retains the original look.
Underneath we pulled out what may be the original spare wheel,
tire, floor jack, and handle too.
Conclusion
The 1965 Corvette Coupe we have here we have here at Adventure
Classics has a lot of originality and a ton of the factory original
parts. It does need a complete restoration to put it back to its
former glory, but this is one of the most loved of all Corvettes
and is climbing in value in the collector market, no matter what
the shape.
Buy it and make it into what you want today.
