The Porsche “Soft-Window” Targa configuration was a true example of innovation for the German manufacturer. First revealed on a Porsche 911 in 1966, the Targa was designed to bring the open-air experience to the world-beating sports car without compromising structural rigidity. Furthermore, at the time, it was feared that impending American safety regulations would effectively ban the traditional cabriolet. The solution was the Targa -- a compromise that would soon become an enduring addition to the Porsche model range. The first Targas paired their signature removable roof panel with a foldaway plastic rear “soft” window.
The stunning Porsche 912 “Soft-Window” Targa featured here is finished in highly desired Polo Red over black interior with matching Targa top. A beautiful restoration, including a complete engine rebuild, makes this matching-numbers, investment-grade Porsche 912 “Soft-Window” Targa the one to add to any premier collection. With less than 150 examples known to exist, this car should make a tremendous investment, and I personally believe its value will grow beyond your imagination. We are proud to offer this stunning example to the most sophisticated investor collector or enthusiast who understands and appreciates the potential of this rare German classic.
