"Sale Pending- Thank You"
Grand Wagoneer by Classic Gentleman, internationally recognized as a leading buyer, restorer and seller of low mile excellent condition Grand Wagoneers, presents the lowest original mile Grand Wagoneer in our inventory. (And one of the lowest mile Grands we have ever sold)
How low are the miles?……ONLY 32,515 ORIGINAL MILES! That works out to under 1,000 miles per year. (Incredible).
The world is full of 30 year old convertibles with 30,000 miles because many of those were summer weekend toys. A low mile SUV is an entirely different unicorn as most original owners of these used them as everyday drivers or worse, mounted snow plows to the front and pulled travel trailers from the rear. If you are in the market for a exceptional low mileage collectible Wagoneer, this will probably be the lowest mile example we will have for years.. Carfax confirms that the miles are original and no accidents have ever been reported against our ’88.
She was always a southern Grand until our first purchase, never seeing one ounce of road salt. We originally bought her back in 2015 and she was quickly sold to a gentleman in Michigan with 23,700 original miles on her. She was kept at his summer lodge in the upper peninsula, with over a mile of lakefront property on the estate. After enjoying her for several years and adding roughly 9,000 miles, our past client decided to rotate her out of his collection. We enthusiastically purchased her back.
Upon re-entering our inventory, our Classic Gentleman staff went to work.
The exterior white paint was reapplied by our team and is lovely. We also removed the old wood trim and wood siding and the installation of new trim and wood siding. . A white finished Wagoneer is one of the best back drops against wood siding. Because this is such an exceptionally low mile Grand, the original wheels, front grill, bumpers and exterior chrome pieces still present very nicely. They are not new, and since these exterior chrome and aluminum pieces are no longer produced, can't be purchased new, but do reflect just low mile – road salt free usage and remain in very good condition.
This cordovan interior likewise tells the story of how handsome a true under1,000 mile per year collectible Wagoneer can look. That 1988 shag carpeting is an artifact of a long gone era. The “Brady Bunch” type carpeting still presents in very good condition and we can’t bring ourselves to replace it. There are two very small areas near the tailgate where age has caught up with the shag but our past two buyers have elected to keep the original carpet as it is, because it's impossible to duplicate today. The new carpet that is being manufactured today can match the original color but not the deep shag texture. We did replace the custom Grand Wagoneer floor mats. The leather seats are likewise in exceptional shape….Just as the images portray. Ready to use you will find power windows, power door locks, power seats, power outside mirrors, air conditioning and heat, and the factory original AM/FM/Cassette.
The V8 360ci engine, transmission, along with the 4 wheel drive system, were all carefully looked over and she is ready go to her next loving home. She rides as tight as you would expect a uber low mile Grand Wagoneer to feel. That still isn’t the same as a new car of course and yes, all Grands handle like a tuna boat but still……Nothing beats the feel of a true low mile Grand Wagoneer.
We completed all the above works back in 2020 and sold her to one of America's principal families, where she joined their 70 piece vintage car collection. She was sent to the family's Nantucket estate and enjoyed there. Given however they have many classics to drive and limited time at the summer place, along with it being a small island, just 150 miles were added over the year since our restoration. The owner enjoys the privileges' of rotating his collection regularly and often and she has just returned to us to find her next home.....This Grand has indeed led one very charmed life.
In 2021 she was fitted with modern fuel injection which is a substantial upgrade from the old factory carburetor set up. There is a large host of original equipment that is replaced in this updating, all done to improve your everyday driving experience.
Why buy from a Grand Wagoneer specialist?
Our entire focus is on Grand Wagoneers and we know these unique vehicles inside and out. When you purchase a Classic Gentleman Wagoneer it has been thoroughly inspected and works completed by professional mechanics, some with over forty years of Wagoneer experience. We purchase fine example Jeeps from a variety of sources including other dealers and private parties. We are often told by the seller, “My Jeep is excellent and needs nothing” however, being in this profession, we know to expect and plan for a great deal of sorting. Remember the average age of these vehicles is over thirty years old and even with loving care many the cosmetics and mechanical parts have aged and worn accordingly. When a Classic Gentleman Grand Wagoneer arrives at your home, it is a special occasion and the Grand will be in beautiful condition. Yes, our sales are as-is, but as you will see from our detailed document files that your Grand has been looked after carefully. Our goal is to see that the joy and enthusiasm of Grand Wagoneer ownership begins immediately with your purchase and that it will be there for years to come.
Still, and here is the most honest paragraph you have perhaps ever seen from a restoration house/dealer, in some ways these Jeeps were terrible even when they were new. Sometimes we wonder if automotive engineering was more of a hobby with Jeep executives. For example, a Grand Wagoneer was the very last vehicle produced in America still fitted with a carburetor. The factory installing an ancient artifact like a carburetor to these Grands is a perfect example of Wagoneers being more primitive than other vehicles of the same model years. Now we automatically upgrade and modernize each of our Grands with MODERN FUEL INJECTION, eliminating the troublesome carburetor and therefore also eliminating the next owner having to constantly hector his local Jeep service advisor to adjust the carburetor. But, in most every other way, we can’t change the method these were built by the factory. In many respects the manufacturer used outdated technology and manufacturing methods and as a restorer, we will always be compromised by that circumstance. Did you know you can remove the front grill from a final year 1991 Grand Wagoneer and behind it still see the round cut out holes for the 1963 Jeep Wagoneer headlights? Those are just two examples above to illuminate the discussion. Therefore, please understand you will do more maintenance and servicing of a vintage Grand Wagoneer than a modern piece, even one we have restored. That is just a truth, fellow enthusiast. If you don’t have the un-excitability and tolerance for that, then let us say to you candidly, don’t buy one. But let us also remind you that it is indeed that old school style and looks of a Grand Wagoneer that have made them so ever popular today.
