Challenger R/T SE 440 6 pack 4 speed
Here at LaFontaine Classics, we continue our commitment of offering
the highest quality, hard to find, classic muscle cars and trucks
in the country. Here is another beautiful example just
released.
Check out this 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T SE 440 6 pack that is
ready for any car show, local or national.
Still wearing its factory sheet metal, this R/T is in excellent
condition. It was born in Hamtramck Michigan and immediately
shipped to a local dealer in New Mexico where it spent most of its
life in the dry western heat, preserving the metal and keeping the
under-carriage rust free. A perfect life for a very special and
rare piece of Mopar history.
When it was finally time to restore this gem, it was treated to a
fresh coat of ""FE5"" Bright Red paint, a new black vinyl top,
front and rear bumpers, and new lens bezels and badging where the
originals were beyond refurbishing. All of the stainless trim is in
beautiful condition. The interior was brought back to its original
glory with factory style black seat covers and matching headliner
while the engine and transmission were rebuilt to factory specs.
Rolling stock are factory 15x7 rally wheels with new Goodyear
Poly-glas, bias-ply, raised white letter tires.
The 1970 Challenger has a great look to begin with, and this highly
optioned E-body has all of the right components any collector will
appreciate. Being a true ""V"" code car gets most enthusiasts fired
up for the 440 6-pack under the hood. The engine block is a date
code 1970, dealer installed replacement, filled with all of the
stock 390 hp internals. This was one of the fastest muscle cars in
its day, motivated by 490 factory rated foot pounds of torque.
Pushing that power to the rear end is the numbers matching A-833 4
speed transmission with the iconic Pistol-Grip shifter, connecting
to the numbers correct, Dana 60 rear end housing fitted with the
factory 3.54 gear ratio and Powr-Trac differential to make sure
both tires were providing the necessary traction. This is the A33
""track Pak"" option.
The SE badging is a sign that this boulevard bruiser is highly
optioned both inside and out. Inside, you have the conveniences of
the over head console featuring ""door ajar"" and ""low fuel""
lights with courtesy interior lamps. The SE package also includes
upgraded wood grain throughout the interior - including the center
console, dash board, and door panels, along with the upgraded 3
spoke wood grain steering wheel to match. Monitoring the drive is a
Rallye instrument cluster with 150 mph speedometer and special 8000
rpm tachometer next to the oil pressure, coolant temperature and
fuel level gauges keeping track of the engine's vitals.
This is a rare piece of muscle car history. If you have any
