If you happen to be viewing this 2002 Audi S6 Avant Quattro on a
website other than our Garage Kept Motors site, it's possible that
you've only seen some of our many photographs of the car due to
third-party website limitations. To be sure you access all the more
than 160 photographs, as well as a short start-up and walk-around
video, and a link to the Audi's Carfax history report, please go to
our main website: Garage Kept Motors.) Just your everyday
340-horsepower, 155-mph family station wagon €" Car and Driver,
November 2001 For some time, Audi has had a practice of holding
their more powerful and interesting model introductions until late
in the series' run. The German brand often does so by bringing a
hot Avant (Audi-speak for station wagon) to market. The legendary
RS2 Avant was the first in 1994, and the RS6 Avant launched last
year is the most current example. The C5 series of mid-size Audis
was nearing the end of its run in 2002 when the Ingolstadt
automaker introduced the Audi S6 to the unanimous acclaim of the
automotive press: Autoweek: The fun factor is very high in the S6
Avant due in large part to the 4.2-liter V8 that Audi rates at 340
horsepower. Road and Track: The S6 is quiet, solid, and above all
responsive to inputs from your right foot. Motor Trend: The S6 is
perfect if you like its distinctive profile, luxury trappings, and
need all-weather handling and room for gear. Especially if you want
to get where you're going in a hurry. Car and Driver: The bottom
line: If BMW's M5 is the ultimate sedan (Any arguments on that? No?
Good.) Then the S6 Avant is the ultimate wagon. End of discussion.
The AudiWorld Internet forum reports that Audi of America imported
just 882 S6 Avants to the U.S. in 2002. More than half that number
were painted silver, and all were equipped with Tiptronic shiftable
automatic transmissions and Quattro® all-wheel drive. Offered here
is a 2002 Audi S6 Quattro in Brilliant Black over Ebony. The car's
odometer shows 92,756 miles, fewer than 5,000 miles per-year since
new. A single, minor-damage incident (to the driver's-side door),
noted by Carfax in 2017, has long since been professionally
repaired with no sign of the repair remaining. The S6's outstanding
condition, extensive service documentation (included in the sale),
and low mileage make it a rare opportunity to own a very special
Audi. In addition to standard equipment (listed on the reproduction
window sticker shown in the photo gallery), the car's
factory-installed options include: - Navigation system (Since
augmented with a Sony® touchscreen system also featuring cellphone
interface with Bluetooth,® SiriusXM®, Apple CarPlay,® and Android®
capability) - Rear side airbags - Rear Parktronic® parking assist -
Heated front and rear seats The exterior non-metallic, black paint
retains excellent gloss across the entire long roof car. In
particular, the color is well-suited to emphasizing the
flared-fender design (unique to the V8-equipped Audis in 2002) and
the tasteful chrome and brushed-metal trim (lower-door side blades,
billet-aluminum side mirrors, and roof rails) on the classic body.
(To best assess the quality of the paint and chrome finishes, be
sure to view the close-up photographs of the car in the
accompanying gallery.) There is no damage to the aluminum and steel
body panels. Lightly tinted cabin glass and all lighting lenses are
clear and free of cracks or other damage. All factory-mounted
badging-including the S6 grille badge, Audi 4-rings emblem in the
front eggcrate-style grille (unique to the S6), and the same two
emblems on the rear liftgate-remains in place. Removable AudiSport®
identification has been added to rear side windows and the rear
