Vehicle Description
Beautifully built and loaded with upgrades, this 1950 Ford F-1
pickup is one of the very best vintage haulers we've featured and
the list of modifications and upgrades would take up twice the
space we have here. This is a very impressive truck!
The color is called Amethyst, and it's just gorgeous in person. The
flames are expertly applied and the illusion of the white and
purple sections overlapping is fascinating, even up close; clearly
an expert was at work here. The bodywork is familiar to Ford fans,
but a few subtle tweaks gives it a more up-to-date look, including
the shaved bumpers, painted grille, and custom rear roll pan.
Surface prep must have taken weeks of work, because the bodywork is
straight, smooth, and glossy, with no ripples or waves visible
anywhere, and with that high-interest paint, people are definitely
going to be looking closely at the workmanship. Tidy panel gaps,
particularly on the hood, suggest a lot of money was spent and we
like little details like the cool hood vents, a trailer hitch
hidden behind the license plate, and a Ford oval down low on the
front grille. The bed is nicely finished with custom widened fender
housings, plus a locking tool box up front which allows for some
storage as well as access to the battery underneath.
The beautifully tailored interior is nicely suited to the paint,
with handsome purple tweed wrapped around comfortable bucket seats.
Custom door panels and even under-dash panels give it a luxurious
and highly finished look, but it doesn't lose the charm of an old
pickup. The factory instrument panel has been replaced by a neat
billet insert that mirrors the original's shape, but now houses a
full array of cool Dakota Digital instruments for monitoring the
truck's vitals, plus an analog water temperature gauge underneath.
The banjo-style wheel is period perfect and sits on a tilt column,
and a powerful A/C system makes this a truck that's ready for a
cross-country haul. The controls for both the A/C and the
AM/FM/cassette stereo are hidden, so the dash remains clean and
uncluttered, and there's a digital music system for entertaining
the onlookers.
The Ford bodywork was parked on top of a Chevy S10 pickup frame, so
the installation of a 350 cubic inch Chevy V8 seems like a natural
fit. It's reliable and plenty powerful, and the engine bay is very
neatly finished with some dress up pieces and includes an Edelbrock
4-barrel carburetor, long-tube headers, and a big radiator up front
to keep things cool. It's backed by a TH350 3-speed automatic
transmission and a 10-bolt rear end, so service is easy and the S10
chassis brings power steering and power front disc brakes, so it's
easy to handle. Long-tube headers dump into a custom dual exhaust
system with stainless mufflers that sound great, and the stance is
just about perfect. Shiny Colorado Custom aluminum wheels offers a
traditional look and fat 215/70/15 front and 275/60/15 rear
BFGoodrich rubber.
Professionally built and totally sorted, this F-1 is ready to
enjoy. If you're man enough to drive a purple truck, you're going
to love the way it handles and all the attention it gets from the
ladies. Call today!
