Vehicle Description
4737 actual miles. Desirable WS6 Ram Air T-top car. Beautiful
original paint and leather interior, polished wheels. Loaded with
options, everything works, drives like a new car. Last of the
LS-powered Trans Am performance cars, ready to rumble! The highest
praise we can offer on a car like this is that it's pretty much 'as
new.' The mileage-4737-is no joke and the car has been properly
kept and maintained since it was purchased in 1999. F-body build
quality was pretty good by the time this car was built and the
doors close with a reassuring THUNK and the black paint is
extremely good by production car standards. Since most of the
bodywork is plastic, there are obviously no dings or dents and
panel fit is excellent. The big Ram Air scoops on the hood and
distinctive round fog lamps make the WS6 easy to spot a glance and
the overall shape is clean, although there are still plenty of
scoops and grilles for the Pontiac faithful. Darkened taillights
feature a honeycomb pattern when the lamps are illuminated and the
spoiler out back is one of the best-integrated designs of the time.
This car looks good from any angle and it has a properly aggressive
image that suits the Trans Am just fine. The charcoal gray leather
interior is as beautifully kept as the exterior, featuring
virtually every feature Pontiac could build into it. Supportive
bucket seats are power adjustable with lumbar support, there's a
tilt steering column that puts the fat leather-wrapped wheel right
where you want it, and big white-on-black gauges make it easy to
keep an eye on things under the hood. Of course, as the
top-of-the-line, everything was standard, including power windows,
locks, and mirrors, cold A/C, cruise control, and a great-sounding
AM/FM/CD stereo with an equalizer. There's virtually zero wear on
any of the seating surfaces, befitting a car with such low mileage,
and the GM plastics of the period have withstood the test of time
far better than expected-there are virtually no creaks or rattles
in this car. All the weather seals are in excellent shape,
including those on the T-tops, and the trunk doesn't look like it
has ever been used. You want a fresh Trans Am, this is it.Power
comes from the now-legendary 5.7 liter LS1 V8, which was borrowed
from the C5 Corvette for use in the WS6. GM played their usual
games with the horsepower numbers, but given the way these cars
run, it's a safe bet that the engine wasn't really detuned for use
in the F-bodies. And as an LS1, it starts instantly, idles
properly, and has a deep pool of torque available at almost any
speed. And sure, if you want more power, it's only a phone call
away. But this one remains 100% stock, right down to the air filter
and exhaust, with factory decals, assembly marks, and other
fittings still visible throughout the engine bay. It obviously
hasn't seen inclement weather and it runs as well today as it did
22 years ago. The 4-speed automatic transmission snaps off
rifle-like shifts and doesn't mind doing a 2-gear downshift when
you really plant your foot, making this a very fast car even today.
The WS6 suspension package offered expensive DeCarbon shocks,
upgraded springs and sway bars, and 4-wheel disc brakes that are
surprisingly powerful. Note that the original exhaust system is
still in place, including the flattened exhaust tubes to help with
ground clearance yet which still give the Trans Am its
characteristic growl. The rear is suspended on a torque arm that
gives the F-bodies superior traction at launch and ride quality is
decent given the car's performance. And obviously, it hasn't seen
anything more than a puddle underneath, with spotless floors and
only a few splashes of dirt. Polished alloy wheels look awesome on
the black bodywork and carry 275/70/17 Goodyear performance radials
that might just be original to the car.Documentation includes
original owner's manuals and advertising brochures. Today's
collector market prizes low-mileage original cars and this one is
about as close to new as you can get. It's beautifully maintained,
fully functional, and shows none of the issues that cars that have
just been parked often do. Instead, it's ready to enjoy sparingly
or perhaps it's even a blank canvas for something truly
spectacular. Either way, you'll have a hard time finding a better
one. Call today!Harwood Motors always recommends and welcomes
