1968 Chevrolet C10 Pick-Up Short Bed / Std Cab - Fresh Restoration
with LS Power & Auto Transmission.
Here is a chance to own a virtually brand new, extremely desirable,
1968 Chevy C10 in bright orange and cream. These trucks have a huge
following and are very popular but it's not very often you come
across an example in this condition AND available to purchase.
LaFontaine Classics is very pleased to offer this unbelievable 1968
C10 that is basically a hand built, completely refurbished, "new"
truck from top to bottom. The restoration started by disassembling
the entire truck down to the bare frame - this was the starting
point.
Media blasting and painting the frame in semi-gloss black was step
one of this build. The cab and bed were installed on a rotisserie
where they underwent very detailed preparations including countless
hours of "blocking and sanding" to be sure all of the surfaces were
smooth and straight. Before removing from the rotisserie, the cab
and bed were treated to multiple coats of bright orange and cream
paint that makes this C10 stand out in a crowd.
Before the reassembly, it had already been decided to have a
finished product that looked and drove like a brand-new truck. With
that in mind, most of the components installed on this project were
either brand new, or completely restored to appear like new. The
entire underside is painted semi-gloss black including the
floorboards, new suspension, and rear axle. Under the hood you will
find new inner fenders along with a new core support, again
finished in the matching semi-gloss found underneath. Between the
frame rails is a modern, aluminum headed, LS V-8 engine measuring
5.3 liters or 325 cubic inches. This is the heart and soul that
moves this beauty down the road with plenty of power to spare.
These are very popular engines to transplant into classic cars and
trucks because of their modern amenities including fuel injection,
power steering, modern accessory drive, coil-on-plug ignition
system and easy to source mounts and brackets. Our '68 is installed
with a GM factory style wiring harness and stock ECU for simple
plug-and-play installation. Transferring the power to the rear is a
late model 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission normally found in
newer trucks, typically with the 5.3L engines. This transmission is
also controlled by the same ECU that controls the engine - not a
separate stand-alone system found in other builds. Exhaust duties
are handled by a custom fabricated dual exhaust system including
V-band clamped connection points and tail pipes exiting under the
rear bumper. The finishing touch under the hood is the aftermarket
air conditioning system blowing ice cold air controlled by the
factory dash mounted controls to keep the stock appearance.
Looking inside, you will find a gorgeous, completely stock
appearing interior. The reconditioned factory dash houses the stock
gauge cluster, heater controls, and the stock radio delete plate.
Additional items include a refurbished/rebuilt steering column with
3 spoke steering wheel, new gas and brake pedals, new door sill
plates and weatherstripping, with new carpet and the completely
rebuilt/recovered bench seat.
This is the C10 above all others. It was built to appear stock, yet
run and drive like a modern pick-up. The finished product is a
perfect mix of old and new and the result exceeded the
expectations. Don't hesitate to inquire on this one - it won't last
long!
