Garage Kept Motors.) If ever there were a thoroughbred of cars...
this is it. €" 1972 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible magazine
advertisement headline The copywriters continued below a photo of
the Eldorado parked at a racehorse-auction: Eldorado Convertible by
Cadillac. It has the lines. The dash. The spirit. And something
more. Because this one is unique--even among thoroughbreds. It is
the only luxury convertible built in America. The only luxury car
with front-wheel drive, Automatic Level Control, and an 8.2-litre
engine. You may specify American-made steel-belted radial tires, a
Dual Comfort front seat and Track Master skid control.... It is the
world's most elegant personal car. Offered here in white over red
leather (under a white fabric top) is a 1972 Cadillac Eldorado that
demonstrates exactly what Cadillac's slogan Standard of the World
meant: large, luxurious, and 100% unapologetic. Showing 103,620
miles on the odometer, or fewer than 2,700 miles per-year on
average since new, this is a cruise-worthy example in excellent
overall condition. The car's exterior white finish is uniformly
shiny across the entire, expansive body. Panel-fit lines are
excellent, and body sheet-metal is free of damage. The bespoke
chrome Cadillac grille--with quad rectangular headlights
incorporated-shines beautifully; it is an impressive sight viewed
head-on. Other brightwork-including windshield trim,
Cadillac-branded side mirrors, body-side trim, door handles, and
rear bumper--exhibits the same condition with only minor
indications of patina from age (for example, on the door handles).
Cabin glass is clear and undamaged; the white fabric,
power-operated convertible top is similarly free of imperfections.
All badging and emblems are present in their factory-affixed
locations. Brushed-metal full wheel covers (with Cadillac logos)
and thin-stripe whitewall tires are mounted. Inside, the car is an
intriguing mix of men's club gentility and rock-star excess. The
tufted, square-panel design leather upholstery is free of wear
indications or damage; its promise of almost decadent comfort
positively beckons. The car's expansive padded red dashboard is
framed by the red steering wheel with the Cadillac logo on a 3-part
woodgrain background in its center; wood trim (showing some fading
and patina) extends across the dashboard to the passenger side.
HVAC climate-controls are located left of the steering wheel; the
power-convertible-top actuating control is to the right. The face
of the instrument cluster and related trim shows light wear; the
headlight-control knob is missing. The automatic-transmission
shifter is column-mounted. A JVC® audio head unit has been added in
the factory-radio location. The car's trunk is clean with the
original jack and a mounted spare tire. Under the hood, the massive
500 cubic-inch (8.2-liter) V8 fills a clean, well-maintained engine
bay. Surfaces here are original with no added chrome or other
modifications. All components are properly mounted. Viewed from
below, the front-wheel-drive car's chassis is complete and
undamaged, with surface rust consistent with the car's age and
mileage present on untreated metal. The Eldorado's factory-mounted
build and identification tags remain in place. The car comes with
its original owner's manual. While the more than 145
high-definition photographs and the short walk-around-and-startup
video available on the GarageKeptMotors website showcase this '72
