Vehicle Description

1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1 - 429 Cobra Jet V8 (not original to the car) - White over Black - American Racing Wheels (Please note: If you happen to be viewing this 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1 on a website other than our Garage Kept Motors site, it's possible that you've only seen some of our many photographs of the car due to third-party website limitations. To be sure you access all the more than 145 photographs, as well as a short start-up and walk-around video, please go to our main website: Garage Kept Motors.) A dramatic fastback profile characterized the new-for-1971 SportsRoof Mustangs. €" Hemmings Muscle Car Profile Hemmings went on: The... Mach 1 treated its buyer to a host of popular-for-the-era upgrades, such as an impact-resistant molded micellar urethane foam body-colored coating for the front bumper, sport-driving-lamps-equipped honeycomb-pattern grille, closed 'NACA-type' hood scoops, honeycomb-pattern rear panel appliqué, pop-open gas cap, black or argent lower body and front and rear valance panels, rear tape stripe with a 'Mach 1' decal, and color-keyed racing mirrors with driver's-side remote-control. The well-maintained Mustang Mach 1 SportsRoof model offered here wears classic white paint over a black vinyl interior. The car's odometer shows 71,713 miles, fewer than 1,500 miles per-year on average since new. Exterior features include the tribute twin-air-scoop-hood highlighted in black with 429 Ram Air identification, front urethane bumpers, large front air-dam spoiler, black hockey stick side stripes, black trunk-lid-mounted spoiler, rear-window slats, Mustang-branded gas filler-cap, and five-spoke, chrome, 17-inch American Racing® wheels (mounted with 245/40 Vercelli® performance all-season tires). The paint is in excellent condition overall, and chrome trim is extremely well-maintained with little patina. Body-panel fit and alignment is at or above period standards. (To best assess the quality of the paint and chrome finish, be sure to view the close-up photographs of the car in the accompanying gallery.) The Mustang emblem in the grille and 429 Ram Air identification on the hood are properly in place; Mach 1 rear-fascia decals are in excellent condition. No body rust is evident. The car's interior features horizontal-pattern black vinyl upholstery on both the front high-back bucket seats and the rear bench seat. Door trim is black with woodgrain inserts. The condition of interior surfaces overall is excellent. Cabin floors are covered in well-maintained black carpeting. Rear speakers are incorporated in the rear-cabin trim. A woodgrain-trimmed, Mustang-logo factory steering wheel frames the large speedometer and tachometer, with a smaller fuel gauge. The upper woodgrain-trimmed center console includes auxiliary gauges for oil pressure, voltage, and engine temperature. An upgraded Clarion® AM-FM radio with cassette unit is mounted in the factory-radio location. Slide-lever-operated heating and ventilation controls, a t-shifter for the automatic transmission, twin cupholders, and an armrest with storage complete the console. All cabin surfaces have been well-maintained, free of damage or significant wear. The car's trunk is clean and free of any rust (trunk-lid supports do not hold the lid open). Under the hood, the properly labeled, legendary 429 cubic-inch, 4-barrel, Cobra Jet V8 (in proper Ford blue) replaces the original 351. Chrome valve covers add flair as well. (Be sure to sample the car's engine note by watching the video linked with this listing.) The engine bay is spotless and nicely detailed. All components are properly located. Underneath the car, the chassis is clean and straight. The properly routed, full dual-exhaust system and newer gas tank show no signs of overly aggressive driving styles or track use. Original factory-mounted build and identification tags remain in place. While the more than 145 high-definition photographs and the short walk-around-and-star
