Ford Mustang €"Hemmings, February 2010 At the very end of the
muscle-car heydays, with crash-testing and an energy crisis
applying a double whammy, the 1973 Mustang still offered a measure
of that fast-fading performance muscle. One of the two 351
Cleveland V8 4-barrel engine choices, the H-code, was still rated
at 266 horsepower, despite a switch to the H-code's smaller valves.
The '73 Mustang fastback offered here with an accompanying Marti®
Report is a 2-barrel 351 Cleveland V8 car. The car's odometer shows
just 25,716 total miles, fewer than 550 miles per-year on average
since new. This is a survivor Mustang still wearing its original
factory-applied Light Blue (code 3B) paint over a Blue Vinyl (AB)
interior. The paint is in excellent, virtually showroom condition
overall (including on the racing-style mirrors), and body-panel fit
and alignment is proper. There is no damage to any sheet metal. A
dark-blue vinyl top with Mustang-logo emblems is in place and in
pristine condition. Other badging-the running-pony grille badge,
script-Mustang badging on the fenders and rear deck, and the
Mustang-branded gas-filler cap-is all properly mounted. Chrome
bumpers, door handles, wheel-well trim, taillight and headlight
trim is in uniformly excellent condition. Tinted cabin glass and
all lighting lenses are free of cracks or other damage.
Factory-installed, Ford-branded, full wheel covers and 14-inch
thin-stripe-whitewall Uniroyal® Tiger Paw tires are mounted. The
car's interior features blue vinyl upholstery in a handsome a
square-pleated design, echoed on the door trim. The condition of
interior surfaces overall is superb. All the upholstery-including
on seatbacks-shows very well, completely free of rips or tears.
Blue cabin carpeting (with protective blue rubber mats) has been
well maintained. A riveted-wood-rim, Mustang-logo, 3-spoke sport
steering wheel with brushed-metal trim frames the large
speedometer, with the other large gauge opening devoted to various
warning lights. The car is equipped with power steering and power
front disc brakes. The factory pushbutton AM radio is present in
its proper location, with slide-lever-operated controls for the
heating and ventilation located just below. Controls for the
dealer-installed air conditioning are located on the wood-trimmed
unit mounted below the dash. The t-shifter for the C6 Select Shift
automatic transmission is floor-mounted. Under the hood, the
numbers-matching 351 Cleveland 2-barrel V8 (in proper Ford blue)
commands a spotlessly clean and tidy engine bay. All
components-including the Ford air conditioning unit-are properly
located with no modifications. Underneath the car, the chassis is
clean, straight, and undamaged. The partial-length dual exhaust
system shows no signs of the sort of wear that can result from
overly aggressive driving styles or track use. While the more than
155 high-definition photographs and the short
walk-around-and-startup video available on the GarageKeptMotors
website showcase this '73 Mustang in detail from every angle,
including from below, we expect and encourage in-person inspections
at our Grand Rapids, Michigan showroom. Please call to arrange an
appointment in advance as our showroom is not open to the public.
