Corvette magazine advertisement headline, 1979 The headline above
was followed with: What can you say about the Corvette legend It
all began 26 years ago, when the first Corvette was driven off the
assembly line. And it remains today as America's only true
production sports car. A car that is awesomely competent. And for
1979, the legend lives on. This year, Corvette engineers and
designers continue to refine one of the world's impressively
responsive cars, blending styling and engineering to give you
touring comfort and driver convenience. New flatter-folding bucket
seats, for example, endow Corvette with more practical carrying
capacity. New dual-snorkel air-induction air cleaner, new
anti-theft steering column ignition lock, and standard Delco AM-FM
radio help to make it one of the world's best-equipped cars. It's
not hard to understand why Corvette is such a legendary car. Since
1958 it has offered the fulfillment of a never-ending dream. And
for that reason it is truly the one and only. Corvette. Offered
here is a 1979 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe L82 in silver over dark
blue. This American legend has been impressively maintained in
original condition. Since new, the car has traveled 67,688 miles,
or just over 1,600 miles per-year on average. The exterior silver
paint remains in excellent condition over the entire body including
the two removable t-top panels, the lower-front grilles, and the
Endura®-clad front and rear bumper covers. Only regular commitment
to owner care can protect paint in this impressive fashion. All
cabin glass-including the beautifully curved rear window-is clear
and undamaged. Lighting lenses are similarly damage-free; pop-up
headlights operate properly. Limited chrome on the body is in
excellent condition with only minor patina on the door handles. All
factory badging-the crossed-flags emblems on the hood, front
fenders, and rear-deck gas-filler-cap cover, the L82 hood
identification, and italicized corvette on the rear fascia-remains
properly mounted. Factory-original alloy wheels with crossed-flags
center caps are mounted with raised-white-letter BFGoodrich® Radial
T/A tires. Inside, the dark-blue color theme makes for an
attractive companion to the exterior silver. Dark-blue
vinyl-trimmed flat-folding bucket seats feature handsome, patterned
fabric inserts. Cabin and cargo-area carpeting in matching blue is
in excellent condition (there is some shrinkage on the right-hand
side of the center console). Carpet mats are in place, as is a
roll-up cargo cover, for sun-protection. Door trim incorporates
both the patterned fabric and carpeting surfaces. The stock sport
steering wheel with crossed-flags emblem frames the twin
instruments: a 130-mph speedometer and 5,500-rpm-redline
tachometer; a clock and four engine-monitoring gauges are located
in the center-dash above the factory radio and HVAC slide-lever
controls. The shifter for the automatic transmission and the
power-window buttons complete the console. Under the front-hinged
hood, the stock appearance of the engine bay has been maintained,
clean and free of shine-enhancing, spray-on products. The
twin-induction air cleaner assembly and finned valve covers on the
350-cubic-inch V8 are noteworthy. All components, including air
conditioning, remain properly mounted. Viewed from below, the
chassis is complete and undamaged. The Corvette's original buil
