the 2018 Motor Trend Car of the Year Motor Trend, November 2017
It's a big honor to win Motor Trend's Car of the Year award,
especially for a model brand new to the U.S. as the Alfa Romeo
Giulia was at the time. But does the glow of that award wear off
over the course of a year and some 20,000 miles of regular driving?
More than twelve months after all the Car of the Year hubbub wore
off, Motor Trend reviewed the long-term test model used by the
magazine staff. None of their enthusiasm had abated: Software isn't
what won (The Alfa Romeo Giulia) Car of the Year, though. Faced
with a decision between a technological marvel and a car that
inspires you to drive, we took inspiration. Every time I mindlessly
caressed the big, metal shift paddles, every time I turned the knob
to Dynamic mode, every time I whipped around a freeway cloverleaf
and dreamed about skipping work and going for a drive in the
mountains instead, I remembered why cars like this win awards. And
finally: The Alfa's a great car.... (Motor Trend Long-Term Review,

The Car of the Year winner was the model offered here in Gray

Motor Trend raved about in multiple articles! Since new, this
Giulia has traveled 18,462 miles, or just over a very conservative
6,000 miles per-year on average. The beauty of the car's exterior
design is obvious. Motor Trend again: The... base Giulia achieves
something Acura, Lexus, Infiniti, and Jaguar have tried futilely to
do for decades: build a better compact sport sedan than the
Deutschlanders. Here in a gunmetal shade of dark silver-gray, the
car appears sculpted from solid metal. One added appeal of the
design: it doesn't look like every other sports sedan on the road.
Here the paint retains its factory gloss and smooth finish; there
are no dings or dents anywhere on the body, including the lower
body panels. Fit and finish is at or above high European standards.
Cabin glass and lighting lenses are perfectly clear. All factory
badging remains in place, notably the iconic rear Alfa crest emblem
on the trunk lid. Unblemished 17-inch 10-spoke factory wheels with
Alfa-Romeo color-logo centercaps are mounted with Michelin 225/50
ZR sport/all-season tires. About the car's exterior, an auto critic
noted: One look at the Giulia from the front, and your heart beats
a little faster. Inside, the condition of virtually every surface
merits the showroom-new descriptor. Black leather seating surfaces
(the front headrests bearing an imprinted Alfa Romeo logo) are
pristine. In the same way, black carpeting throughout is clean and
free of wear marks (four protective carpet mats are included in the
sale). Door sills, switchgear trim and graphics (for example,
surrounding the headlight control knob), console trim, and door
trim (in black accented with ivory and dark metallic trim) are all
free of wear indication. The sport steering wheel with i
