Buy a First-Gen Mazda Miata €" Motor Trend, November 2019 The
Motor Trend writer backed up his headlined assertion above with a
five-point argument in favor of acquiring a first-generation Miata:
DRIVING FUN. Famously inspired by the Lotus Elan, the sweetest
handling, most chuck-able confection of the 1960s, the Miata is
above all a hoot to drive... ECONOMY. Cheap to run, cheap to
repair... CONVERTIBLE TOP. First off, Miatas don't leak, a concept
that makes MG owners variously cackle or cry. Second, there hasn't
been a manual convertible top easier to erect or take down, making
this one simply the best in the business. . CHEAP TO BUY. NA Miatas
found the bottom of the market, price-wise, several years ago and
are on their way back up, but on a dollar-to-smile basis they're
still incredibly affordable... RELIABILITY. Everything works in a
Miata and if it doesn't it is A) a rare occurrence and B) easy to
set right. Offered here, with all the above-mentioned advantages,
is a 1992, first-generation Mazda Miata in black over tan.
Originally delivered to Crown Mazda in Holland, Michigan, and
locally owned since, the car's odometer now shows just 33,574
miles; a very conservative under-1,200 miles per-year on average
since new. The car's original window sticker is included; this is
one reliable sign of owner pride and care for the Miata. An even
more reliable measure is the excellent overall condition of this
sportscar. The factory-original black paint retains excellent shine
and good gloss across every body panel, including the removable
hardtop originally optioned from the factory. Japanese
paint-application technology deserves its reputation for superb
execution. In the classic British-design tradition, bright trim is
kept to a minimum. The rear valance features the only badging for
Mazda and Miata while the front bumper sports MAzda identification
in white. Lighting lenses-including on the pop-up headlights-are
clear and free of cracks or other damage; cabin glass is in similar
well-kept condition. The tan-fabric convertible top is free of wear
indications. Factory-optioned BBS® 14-inch wheels are mounted with
Kelly® 185/50 all-season tires. Inside, the color theme is a nicely
coordinated black-and-tan. Well-bolstered high-back bucket seats
are upholstered in tan leather which has been very well maintained.
Only a small portion of the piping on the driver's seat bolster
shows any noticeable wear at all. Door trim is tan leather with
black trim on controls; as a result of owner care the Mazda-branded
lower door sill trim is largely free of wear indications. The stock
steering wheel in black frames a dashboard, also in black on the
upper surfaces, but tan on the lower portion, making for a perfect
combination in this car. Driver instrumentation includes separate
analog tachometer and speedometer with smaller engine-monitoring
gauges. Instrument lenses are clear. The black center stack
includes HVAC vents and controls above an upgraded Pioneer® audio
head unit. The shift lever (with Nardi® polished wood knob) for the
5-speed manual transmission, cupholders, power-window controls, and
a combination storage area-armrest completes the console. Under the
hood, the car's original 1.6-liter,
