meanest looking automobiles ever envisioned.
€"ClassicOverland.com, October 2019 The authoritative website,
ClassicOverland, continued: The 6-6 originates from the late
1980s. Firstly, it was developed as a specialist vehicle to meet
the requirements of the Australian Army. Furthermore, the 6-6 was
designed to carry high payloads over long distances of unforgiving
terrain and weather conditions. The vehicle was a massive hit. Not
long after, the heavy-duty truck was made available to civilians
and other militaries around the world. Land Rover designed them to
laugh in the face of the roughest terrain and dominate the
trickiest overlanding trails. Besides the second take of stares
everyone gives when seeing this monster truck in action, there are
a few advantages for driving on 6 wheels: First, 6 wheels provide
better grip over all-terrain. Secondly, they also increase the
vehicle's load capacity. Thirdly, they offer better weight
distribution for a safer trip. Offered here is one of these rare
Land Rover Defender 110 6x6 vehicles, built specifically by Land
Rover for Reynolds-Boughton of Amersham, England, which was a farm
supplier. The right-hand-drive truck's odometer shows 85,000 miles
and it has only recently been imported from England. The
proven-rugged 2.5-liter, inline-four, turbo-diesel engine delivers
power to all six wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission.
Specifically, the vehicle has a permanent 4-wheel drive on the
first 2 axles. The third axle is driven via the pass-through in the
second axle, engaged via a clutch when the central differential is
locked. The rest of the drive-line is stock. The exterior of this
Defender is painted in a metallic gunmetal gray, while the two-row,
four-door cab's roof is gloss black as is the front grille. Atop
the Defender's characteristic flat front fenders, adjacent to the
engine bay, a non-slip textured surface ensures safe footing should
servicing be necessary during inclement weather. The same textured
material trims the bottom portion of the body and the rear of the
truck. All fenders feature gloss-black flared extensions. A snorkel
air intake allows for deep-water fording. A specially engineered,
extremely strong roll cage has been added to the cargo box to
protect four jump-seat passenger positions located there. That rear
seating area is accessed by way of a swing-out rear tailgate.
Mirrors, door handles, and all six wheels are rendered in black;
there is no chrome. Front-axle wheels are mounted with General
Grabber TR tires; the rear two axles feature Continental
all-terrain tires (235-85-16) while the cargo-box-positioned spare
is a BFGoodrich T/A all-terrain tire. Inside, the Defender sports
the model's standard dashboard and gauge cluster oriented for
right-hand drive. Upholstery for the two front bucket seats and the
second-row bench is a medium-gray-and-black, textured fabric in
excellent condition. The cabin has a full fabric headliner. Factory
rubber floor coverings are in place throughout the cabin. Under the
hood, the diesel engine and all related components (including the
Garrett turbocharger) are in place in a clean and tidy compartment.
The data plates for the truck are present and properly located.
Viewed from beneath, the truck's chassis is undamaged, with metal
surfaces treated with r
