This is a genuine SS, born red too! Built in Atlanta and lived down
south. It checks the boxes- good looks, big block, vintage air,
power steering and power 4 wheel disc brakes. GM only built 200
1965 Chevelles with a 396 big block. It was a pretty big deal
considering it is a small lightweight car. This one here has a 454
stuffed in it! Let the fun begin.
EXTERIOR: This is a shop looker- bright red with sparkling Foose
wheels. The body is straight, there's no rust or dents. The panels
fit square. The extra bright red paint is slick, it even feels like
Teflon. The jambs are painted nicely. The trim looks like it's all
been replaced. All the stainless moldings around the grill, tail
panel and around the windows look new. The emblems, dual bowtie
mirrors and bumpers were replaced. The front and rear glass has
been replaced. The window seals and weather strips were replaced.
The 18 inch chrome Foose wheels sparkle but are pitting, mostly
towards the back of the rim. They have Nitto performance tires.
INTERIOR: It's been completely redone. Down on the floor is new
carpet, it has SS embroidered mats. The seats have been recushioned
and upholstered. New door panels including armrests, window cranks
and handles. It has new visors, tight fitting headliner and mirror.
The dome light works. The dash area is very nice. The chrome
instrument bezel was replaced. It has the factory clock and gauge
cluster. The a/c unit is neatly below the dash. The center console
is in good shape.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: They stuffed a high performance 454 big block
under the hood. It has a radical cam, GM aluminum heads, Edelbrock
aluminum intake, Flame thrower HEI ignition system and Hooker
headers. The dual feed Holley carb has premium fittings,, fuel
lines and regulator. The front of the motor is decked out with
billet brackets and pulleys with a serpentine belt. It has a
polished aluminum one wire alternator, modern modern power steering
with stainless braided hoses and the a/c compressor is aluminum. It
runs cool with the big aluminum radiator and 2 electric fans.
Updated power brake system with dual reservoir master. The hinges
are chrome, bottom of the hood is gloss red.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Real solid metal, it has been spatter painted
gray. The mat, seat divider and weather strip were replaced. It has
a complete jack and spare assembly that's been cleaned up. The
bottom of the trunk lid and the jamb are gloss red.
UNDERSIDE: The front end was rebuilt. Balljoints, bushings, tie
rods, center link were replaced. In back the bushings and shocks
were replaced. The fuel system was replaced including the tank,
straps, sending unit and electric fuel pump. Dual exhaust with
Flowmaster mufflers and nicely bent turn down tips. Custom
Aerospace disc brake system. It has billet calipers, drilled and
slotted rotors and stainless braided brake hoses at all 4 wheels.
Bottom of the motor is clean, has high torque starter. The trans is
a rebuilt Turbo 350 automatic. The u-joints look new. It has a 12
bolt, 3.55 posi rear. The floors are really clean metal. I don't
see any cuts or patches. The chassis is smooth metal.
This SS is exciting. It has the looks, it sounds amazing and
driving it will get the blood pumping!
