This 1971 Chevrolet Camaro RS has its buildsheet to show it was
born a real-deal Rally Sport. But that may not even be the most
alluring part. It has strong V8 power, four-on-the-floor,
four-wheel discs brakes, and the right kind of appearance that
gives you a great mix of icon and attitude.
This coupe is an aggressive driver, and the paint sets the tone for
it perfectly. The Candy Apple Red has a nice metallic glow in the
sunshine. It does a great job of highlighting the sleek curves of
the 2nd-gen Camaro. But this is not the overly done look of a
trailer queen. It's a mean machine meant to go out and eat the
streets. That's also why you have the wide stripe package done in a
hot rod like matte black. That added darkness helps to highlight
the front spoiler, backout rear panel, and three-piece rear
spoiler. It's a true icon with the split bumper RS front end,
upgraded Z/28 badging, and bright chrome bumpers. But this one also
announces its upgraded nature. You see it displayed in places like
the modern 17-inch alloys and fearsome L88-style hood.
The interior continues the right mix of vintage and upgraded.
Houndstooth cloth upholstery is iconic on Chevy's and this one is
clean and complete, right down to the button-top seatbacks. It's
part of a recent solid investment inside that also includes the
carpeting, door panels, and headliner. The center console,
wraparound gauge panel, power steering, and NK4 steering wheel make
for a comfortable feeling behind the wheel. This was born an air
conditioning car, but today it sacrifices most of those components
for added power. And that feeling of upgraded muscle is really felt
with details like the auxiliary gauge trio and Hurst floor
shifter.
The clean and smooth inner walls of the engine bay do a great job
of showcasing this upgraded powerhouse. This 350 cubic-inch V8 has
been built with plenty of added muscle thanks to aluminum heads, a
Holley four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock RPM Air-Gap intake, and
long tube headers that feed a rather straight set of exhaust pipes.
You'll also spot nice supporting components like a large aluminum
radiator, HEI distributor, and fabricated valve covers. Making sure
you get the most out of this enhanced V8 is a Muncie M21
close-ratio four-speed manual transmission. Plus, you now have
superior grip thanks to upgrades like the four-wheel power disc
brakes and modern sport tires afforded by the wheel upgrade.
The sale comes complete with the factory buildsheet, owner's
manual, service manuals, and even vintage sales materials. This is
the real-deal Rally Sport Camaro that has a terrific driver-ready
style. Call now!
