Vehicle Description
1988 Chevrolet S10 Pickup
There is much debate as to exactly why truck is called the S10, and
the answer, at least the one I'm going with is because it comes
from Chevrolet brass, is that the S designation in them means small
cab, the 10 is because of the 1/2 ton payload capacity? I'm sure
there is another answer out there, and once this truck hits eBay,
all the "experts" will be chiming in, as eBay seems to have an
overabundance of these! (sic)
Two owners from the same family have owned this low original 43,323
mileage Tahoe edition with two tone paint, and a cap over the bed.
A fine running truck can be used as a truck for the cabin, or on
the farm as cosmetically it is not perfect, but with the low miles
and smooth-running engine, it has a long life ahead for someone out
there.
Exterior
This two tone Tahoe in tan and green shows nicely. Paint has a few
dents and dings and slight chip offs but overall is good. The roof
and cap are faded, and the cap has paint chipping off around the
side windows. Trimmings are solid and shiny, and wheels are
standard issue from GM wrapped in 205/75R14 rubber from 1997.
Interior
Camel is the interior color and it's all over the interior in
various shades of light and dark. Door panels are in nice clean
condition, and a bench seat has tuck and roll broadcloth with shiny
vinyl darker bolsters. A darker tan dash mixes with black panels
and houses all the controls needed to operate this truck. In back
the bed has a rubber liner, and as noted previously has a
fiberglass bed cap.
Drivetrain
Underneath the hood is looking like new. Highly detailed and very
clean we see a 2.8 liter V6 with EFI, shoehorned into the clean
surrounding bay. On the back a 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission
is on, and a 10-bolt rear spins the back wheels.
Undercarriage
Some surface rust is seen coating suspension and shows slightly on
the frame. Floor pans and rockers are all black and structurally
sound. Independent coil spring suspension is in front, and leaf
springs are on back. Power disc braking is upfront, and power drums
are on the back.
Drive-Ability
A quick starter and very smooth idle from this V6. It drives great
and handles nicely with good solid power braking, and easy power
steering. The A/C blows warm, the HVAC only blows to the defroster
and the floor, as the airflow does not change when the sliders are
pushed around.
2 Owners, and well cared for by the same family who make up the two
owners. All in nice clean condition, not perfect, but perfectly
suited to the person who will buy it.
