The W123 was and is the most successful Mercedes Benz ever sold,
selling 2.7 million units in eleven years from 1975-1986. The
reason for the success is a multitude of reasons beginning with the
absolute classic and attractive design and the most important
reason is for the durability, especially the diesel variants. These
cars are still a common sight being used in third world countries
being used as taxi cabs, exceeding 500,000 miles with only minor
mechanical issues along the way. This particular 240 D we are
pleased to present has traveled less than 160K miles which is
pretty rare. The interior is all original and shows average wear
but the seats are still in good condition. The moon roof operates
as it should. The A/C does not blow cold and cruise does not work
which is very common for these cars. The paint still shines nice
and has average wear with what appears to be some hail damage on
the top of the trunk lid. The car starts, runs and drives down the
road very nicely with no shakes or rattles. This is a crank window
car, which I prefer over power windows. The radio works, power
antennae does not appear to go up or down but is in the up position
now. This 240D would not be hard to bring back to a real stunner
with a little work. I would personally drive this car to California
and back as it sits.
