Carol Shelby isn't the only person to put a big engine in a little
machine. This machine is a bit different than his, but the effect
is the same. Super performance. This little yellow Toyota is ready
for some serious 4x4 action. Come on down and check it out.
You won't find anything on this truck that doesn't have a purpose
or doesn't need to be there. The front bumper stretches from side
to side so even if you bump a tree or lean into a bank, it should
glance off and keep going. If it doesn't, there are convenient tow
rings that are easy to get to for an assist. The bars on top
protect the fenders and grill while pushing trees and brush up and
out of the way. Out back there is a receiver for a trailer and a
tailgate that folds down. Everything else is minimalist. If you are
heading for the lake instead of the mud bog or mountains, then the
Yellow paint looks good pulling up to the docks or backed in around
a bon fire. The roof is removable and showing up at the party with
people hanging off the roll bar is always fun.
Minimalist describes the interior of this truck too. Its pretty
much all business. There is no door panel dressing out the inside
of the door. (It would just be extra weight and be hard to clean
too). The seats are nicely padded Master Craft racing units with
RJ's Racing Equipment harnesses to hold you in place when the going
gets tough. A Grant GT steering wheel provides good grip for the
driver. The stock dash panel holds the speedo along with engine
gauges across the bottom, but a set of Sunpro gauges for water
temp, oil pressure and voltage to keep accurate track of those
things has been added on the lower left. A B&M T-handle shifter
for the automatic transmission is mounted on the floor with the
lever for the transfer case just behind it. The whole floor pan has
been rhino lined in black, and while having no back-seat leaves
plenty of room for coolers, any passengers will end up sitting on
them or hanging onto the roll bar.
Now for the big engine part. Raise the hood and you will find a 402
cubic inch Chevy sitting down in the engine bay. It actually fits
in there rather nicely, and the tremendous torque of a big block
engine comes in handy in the places this truck is designed to go. A
massive K&N air filter feeds an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor
and RPM intake manifold. A Comp Cams hydraulic cam provides the
lift while black valve covers keep the oil where it belongs. MSD
handles the ignition duties and stainless long tube headers get the
spent gasses out and make the truck sound good while they do it.
Power is sent back through a Jet Performance built, 700R4
transmission with a shift kit, to locker differentials both front
and rear. 4-wheel disc brakes provide good reliable stopping power
no matter how much water they are in, and the truck sits up on
35X16.00-15LT Super Swamper TSL Boggers mounted on aluminum
wheels.
Are you ready for a seriously capable 4X4? Then come on down and
check this one out.
