Vehicle Description
The Ultimate 1969 Mach 1 ""R"" Code - Coyote Powered! This Beauty
combines the classic design of the 60's era muscle with the
performance, convenience, and reliability of a late model
drivetrain. The project began with this nice 1969 Mach 1 ""R""
code, originally equipped with a 428cid engine and 4 speed manual
transmission, that's right, a real deal ""R"" code Mach 1, complete
with Marti Report. This one was destined to be different, to be
driven, not to be stored away hidden from the world. Using this
ultra clean Mach 1 as the canvas, countless hours were spent on the
design and research to obtain the perfect mixture of performance,
handling, and appearance in a 1969 Mach 1. Schwartz Performance was
chosen for their new G Machine Tube Chassis because of the superb
engineering they put into all of their chassis and components. This
particular version was selected for the easy transplant of the Ford
Performance Gen 3 Coyote crate engine. With the goal in mind to
build the best handling Mach 1 possible, Ride Tech adjustable coil
over shocks were used on all 4 corners along with fully adjustable
tubular control arms front and rear. The G- Machine chassis
incorporates heavy duty, fully adjustable, front and rear sway bars
as well. This feature allows simple changes to the overall handling
of the car by adjusting ""link"" settings on the bars to keep it
mild for the street and stiff when the time comes for track duty!
Wheels are custom 3-piece 18x10 in the rear and 18x8 up front - the
wheel centers are custom painted to match the body color. COR
Racing Wheels ""Cipher"" was the style selected for their strength,
style, and light weight. Michelin pilot sport tires provide the
ultimate grip in the corners as well as any other aggressive
driving! The rear tires are a 275/40/18, with a 245/40/18 up front!
Wilwood brakes handle the stopping power with 6 piston calipers up
front and 4 piston calipers in the rear - all using drilled and
slotted rotors.
As a part of the initial build design, a Coyote crate engine was
always planned to be put between the frame rails. It was ordered
and installed complete with a new wiring harness and preprogrammed
ECU. Rated at 435 fuel injected horsepower, the fun factor is
unmatched. Staying with the Mach 1 theme, a custom built,
functional Shaker style hood scoop was installed to continue the
factory look, as if the 428 big block was still under the hood.
The Coyote engine is equipped with necessary upgrades including:
Vintage Air front accessory drive system and AC for those hot and
humid days, an oil filter relocation system using black stainless
braided hose with matching black aluminum AN fittings, an aluminum
radiator with electric fans to keep it cool on the hottest of days.
Exhaust is sent through factory style tubular headers connected to
a custom fabricated 304 stainless steel exhaust system exiting out
the rear.
The Coyote power is sent to the rear through a 6-speed Tremec T-56
Magnum transmission using modern style hydraulics for easy shifts
with a light pedal. The 6 speed is mated to a steel SFI approved
bellhousing for protection in case of clutch failure. Connecting
the transmission to the rear is a custom built aluminum driveshaft
with 1350 u-joints for added strength. Bringing up the rear is the
very strong and efficient Ford 9"" style rear end from Moser
Engineering. The center section is a modular case spinning 3.70
gears with 31 spline axles with a Detroit Locker Tru-Trac
differential. Code ""C5"" was the color of choice when it was time
to make this Mach 1 shine. Bodywork required was minimal, then came
the rigorous blocking and sanding to make the panels flat so the
body and paint is smooth. Bumpers, bright work, and trim, are all
in great condition in all installed like factory original for the
period correct accent to the perfect factory color - Black Jade.
