Vehicle Description
1987 Chevrolet Silverado Pickup
The origin of the word Silverado is confusing and varied with each
page you do research from. It has several meanings, however for
this description we will just say it is a truck made by Chevrolet
and is wildly popular.
For consignment, a 3-owner truck with which the consigner states he
drives it all the time. It is a rust-free truck that is a reliable
runner.
Exterior
Brown paint dons this truck's exterior. Straight steel with nicely
minded gaps abounds throughout. With Silverado trimmings, meaning
plenty of stainless-steel accents, chrome grille and bumper, wheel
well surrounds and black window trimmings and slightly used bed
painted in brown with a black vinyl tonneau covering we have a
classic worker bee ready to take on another 100K miles of faithful
service. 15-inch rally wheels wrapped with deep dish trim rings by
black wall deep tread tires are noted on all 4 corners of this
4-wheel drive pickup.
Interior
A swing of the doors reveals an intricate mix of dark and light
tans molded vinyl with some carpeted area on the bottoms, and many
differing panels to make up just the doors. These panels show some
dirt and smudging. Inside is a tweed broadcloth pattern bench seat
stretching from door to door and this tuck and roll insert and
smooth outer bolster in tan vinyl covered seat is in good condition
showing little wear. In front is the original factory configured
tan and brown molded vinyl dash with a black instrument cluster
using the square and rectangle design of the mid 1980's. Also
within the dash is a toggle for choosing which fuel tank you want
to make use of, right of left. Beige carpet is on the floors and
remains clean as there are molded rubber diamond plate pattern
floor tray mats. Above is a tight felted headliner.
Drivetrain
Under the hood in the original unrestored engine bay, is the
original 305ci V8. It is fed fuel by EFI and has a 700R4 4-speed
automatic transmission on back, along with a 10-bolt 3.08 rear
axle.
Undercarriage
Some slight spotty surface rust with mostly undercoated patina
surfaces are underneath. Still with black floor pans and rockers,
and a dual fuel tank has been optioned on. Power disc brakes are on
front, and power drums for the rear are noted and leaf springs are
seen all around.
Drive-Ability
She fired right up and was ready for another haul, although our
test drive would not have actually taken cargo aboard just a few
trips around the track and she was proven to work well. Nice smooth
acceleration and shifting, bias free panic stopping, and easy
driveability. Noted the A/C blows warm, and the radio turns on but
puts out no sound.
Whether it be your main mode of transportation, or a second truck
for a farm or ranch or cabin location, you are sure to have years
of reliable service left in this truck. No rust, and it will be
well accepted as is. Go on, get to hauling!
