Vehicle Description
1989 AM General Hummer
Tactical vehicles are motor vehicles designed to military
specification or a commercial design motor vehicle modified to
military specification to meet direct transportation support of
combat or tactical operations, or for training of personnel for
such operations.
For consignment, a military conversion vehicle originally in the
possession of the military, and now modified for civilian use.
Still the vehicle has bullet proof glass, Kevlar doors 1/4-inch
aluminum plate rear, and a Silverado diesel power plant and
drivetrain. Also, comfort was taken into consideration with a full
digital dash, 6-way power seats, Navi, Bluetooth, backup cam and
you will be equipped to move freely when the sh*t goes down. The
VIN is 071218.
Exterior
A steel plated winch mount accessible bumper leads the way, and in
conjunction with Rock Slider skid plates, this truck will be
difficult to stop. All bathed in black it has numerous LED lighting
throughout with the full blown LED light kit. Front headlights,
light bars behind the 3/4 inch bullet proof windshield glass, a
canvas camo top with the full protection of Kevlar doors and 1/2
inch ballistics windows throughout the cabin. 20 x 12 RockStar
wheels are wrapped in run flats that have military beadlocks and
run flat rings, allowing you to go an additional 60 miles at 65mph
with virtually no air in the tires. In back a small bed to carry
ammunition and gear, along with 2-5 gallon stainless steel air
tanks with dual compressors, one hooked up to a train horn and the
other accessible to a 25 ft hose reel already installed but no hose
is present. Let's go climb some stairs or make rubble out of a
granite incline.
Interior
While pulling off that coup, why not do it in comfort with a fully
custom interior, with such amenities as BMW supple black vinyl
wrapping 6-way power seats courtesy a Chevrolet Tahoe in bucket
form in front, and more buckets in back flanking the massive center
console. In front of the driver is a digital dash with a push
button start and multi-function keypad for additional night stealth
lighting, and various options to start the vehicle in different
modes. A 4-wheel drive selector is to the driver's right and offers
up 2 wheel and 4 wheel lo and hi modes at the push of a button.
Transmission controls are also digital with the keypad in the
console to drivers right. In the console facing the driver is a
screen for the Navigation, backup cam, audio controls for the JBL
system which has a 10-inch subwoofer in the console with Bluetooth
connectivity. Creature comforts abound until you reach your
representative's desk and are able to put your feet up. Also,
vintage A/C is in along with heat, rubber flooring and a full
leather covered steering wheel is very grazable.
Drivetrain
Flip the ultra light hood forward and we can see an LB7 Duramax
diesel V8 It has EFI and an Alison 5-speed transmission on back.
The axles are 2.73 and the 4x4 is pushbutton. The consigner states
although not verified on a dyno, this engine will now put out 400hp
and 600 ft.lbs of torque. It is a Silverado drivetrain.
Undercarriage
Independent coil springs are on all 4 corners, as well as power
disc brakes. No rust and a fully functional 4x4 system is noted
underneath. A 4-inch straight pipe exhaust is being used for the
exhale.
Drive-Ability
She came to a glowing start, and it was off to the wilds of our
test track which this truck just laughed at. Plenty of power, all
modes are fully functional, and all options are standing at the
ready. Smooth braking, and easy steering, we did not shoot out the
tires to see if the run flat system works but based on condition, I
most assuredly can report that it will.
Plenty of creature comforts with the brute of a true military
vehicle all weighing at less than 5500 Lbs which is less than the
civilian version. Also loads of toughness should you get yourself
in a jam, you can work your way out of it. A tactical vehicle for
the freedom fighter to add just another tool to your arsenal. Don't
tread on me Muther #cke
