In developing the Z8 roadster, BMW married form and function like never before with a flawless design carried over from Henrik Fiskers Z07 concept introduced at Tokyo in 1997. The new Z8 also paid homage to the rare Count Albrecht Goertz-designed 507 of the late 1950s with its side vents, sleek front and rear treatments, and banjo-type steering wheel. Power came from the 4.9-liter V-8 of the M5, tuned to 394 horsepower and mated to a proper six-speed gearbox. With perfect 50/50 weight distribution and the acceleration of a Ferrari 360 Modena, the Z8 was BMWs fastest roadster to date, with brilliant braking and cornering to match. According to numerous magazine road-test reports, the Z8 delivered 0-60 mph acceleration in just 4.2 seconds with an electronically-limited 155 mph top end. Technical sophistication included BMWs first use of an aluminum space-frame structure and advanced construction techniques. All passenger amenities expected of such an elite sports car were standard, including a 12-speaker audio system, six-CD changer, navigation, air conditioning, power-adjustable seats, and more. Given its stunning design, technical excellence, and supercar performance, the Z8 also graced the silver screen with Pierce Brosnan as Her Majestys Secret Agent 007 in the 1999 James Bond epic, The World is Not Enough. According to the BMW Z8 Club e.V. International, which is based in Germany, 5,703 Z8s were produced in all, including 555 Alpina V8 Roadsters. Production was brief, spanning 2000 and 2003, with 3,160 built to European specifications and just 2,543 for the United States. Featuring an impressive black over black leather combination, this 2001 BMW Z8 is a 3-owner vehicle with just 9,813 actual miles accumulated at the time of writing. Factory-original features and options are many, including a 6-speed manual transmission, AM/FM stereo with CD changer, air conditioning, and power-operated brakes, locks, mirrors, seats, steering, windows, and a power convertible top. Other welcome features include a rear-window defroster, fog lamps, and ABS brakes. This Z8 retains the majority of its original paint finish, with the exception of the hood and right-front fender. In addition to the factory-original removable hardtop and stand, the Z8 is accompanied by the factory toolkit, First Aid kit, and navigation disc. Documents include the special Z8 Build Book for this car, the factory-issued owners manual, and clean Carfax vehicle-history report. Looking great with a fresh detailing, this rare and amazing BMW performer is ready to enjoy and appreciate on every level. Call us today and see it for yourself, obtain full details, and prepare to make this Z8 yours in time for all of the summer and fall driving opportunities and enjoyment still to come!
