Vehicle Description
1962 Chevrolet Corvette
Ever since first being introduced in 1953, the Chevrolet Corvette
has continued to be popular and remains one of the most desirable
American sports cars ever produced. It has spanned across 8
different generations with the C8 being produced just last year.
The first generation was from 1953 to 1962 and despite all
belonging to the 1st generation there were still some changes
throughout its lifespan like new motors, dual headlights and
various other features. Due to public reaction to the concept
vehicle they were actually rushed into production. This beautiful
Corvette was the last year for the C1 and has underwent a complete
frame off restoration. It is a fresh build and has never been
shown. It has 53,784 original miles so even before being restored
it was a nice solid car. The car has been completely redone with
not a single component being untouched. The body is in excellent
condition and was repainted in a lacquer Ermine White. It has a
very clean finish and nice shine. All of the chrome on the car was
refinished and all of the stainless trim polished. The removable
hard top is a great feature and lets you transform this classic
from a coupe to a convertible with ease. It was never ordered with
a soft top. It has all of its original glass which is in very nice
condition with no issues. This really is a very clean car
throughout. It rides on original wheels with original Corvette
hubcaps. Prior to being installed the hubcaps were still in their
original Corvette boxes. It has thin white wall tires which work
perfectly with the overall look.
When the '62 was introduced it received a larger motor making it
the fastest of the C2 generation. Not only does the car have the
larger 327 motor but it is a factory fuel injected motor which
produced the highest HP out of all the options. All of the original
mechanical parts on the car were completely removed and rebuilt.
This includes the motor, transmission, rear end, generator, fuel
pump, wiper motor, distributor, water pump and of course the fuel
injection. It is the numbers matching motor making it one of only
1,918 of these factory fuelies produced. The amount still on the
road today are likely much less with even less being in this fully
restored condition. The engine compartment is extremely clean and
looks like it just rolled out of the factory. The undercarriage of
the car is very clean as well and you can tell just looking at it
nothing was left in place without being redone.
The interior is done in Red upholstery which works perfectly with
the White paint. It has dual bucket seats and everything from the
carpet to the headliner is fresh. It has been kept very stock and
the dash has been kept all original. The original gauges were all
rebuilt and all are working properly. In front of the driver sits
the original Red steering wheel. On the center hump sits the
original manual shifter and the car moves through the gears nice
and smoothly.
If you have been looking for a 1st gen fuelie then this is
definitely not one to pass up. It is a beautiful example of one of
these cars and is going to continue to be a desirable car for many
years in the future. It is only going to get more rare as the years
go by.
