Vehicle Description
1965 Shelby Cobra
Carroll Shelby left a legacy with his historic Cobra and to own a
real one will only ever be a dream for most of us car guys. The
true originals fetch crazy numbers nowadays so the next best thing
is a replica. You get the looks, the style, the power, and speed of
these awesome factory race cars without investing a fortune. Out of
the reproduction cars one of the best on the market is the Factory
Five Racing Cobra. According to Factory Five they are "best
selling, best engineered, and best performing replica of all time."
Looking at this car, it definitely backs up those claims. It is an
extremely well put together Cobra with a great look. It is a fresh
build with only 22 miles on it since being completed. It is coated
in a very slick Red paint with dual White racing stripes. While it
is a safety feature, the single roll bar also contributes to that
race car look and is nicely chromed. It has nicely chromed front
and rear dual bumperettes which are the rounded style and are
fitted close to the body. The latching chrome gas cap mounted to
the rear fender and recessed into the body. It has the correct
stacked dual taillights and rounded headlights up front which are
working properly. It has a single chrome drivers side adjustable
mirror and the front glass is wrapped in chrome trim and fitted
with side wind reflectors. It has no door handles which is standard
for these open top roadsters and the door seams are all tight. That
iconic oval front nose is backed by nice mesh steel which stretches
all the way behind the bumperettes and adds to that already tough
looking exterior. The car sits on true 10 spoke knock off wheels
which are exactly what you want to see on these cars. The tires are
Nitto Extremo ZRs size 255/40ZR17.
When these cars are built there is an endless number of options for
the drivetrain. We are very happy to see this one built up with a
351 Windsor which works very well in these cars. Not only are they
lighter but parts are plentiful, affordable and most of all it is a
classic Ford motor. It features a Holley 750 double pumper carb,
MSD ignition, Edelbrock air gap intake, Red painted block, Red
pulleys, Ford Racing valve cars, and Ford Racing air cleaner. It
performs very well and is a blast to drive. So it has the looks,
well what about the sound you ask? This thing does not disappoint
with ceramic coated headers into dual side pipes this car sounds
just like the race car it was meant to be. Heating issues are
rectified thanks to the aluminum radiator with electric fans. It
has a 5 speed transmission and moves through the gears
smoothly.
The cockpit is done in all Black upholstery with dual bucket seats.
They are fitted with Simpson 4 point harnesses and nicely
upholstered. Between the seats sits a chrome fire extinguisher and
center console to house the emergency brake and shifter. The dash
has that complete race car look being designed for functionality
with everything in reach. It has Factory Five Black gauges with
toggle switches and LED indicators. In front of the driver is a
Factory Five steering wheel with woodgrain as tribute to the
originals. The trunk is nicely carpeted and provides storage space
for all your needed car show or track gear.
The Shelby Cobra is a dream car to many and this one gives you the
opportunity to have one of your very own. We can't stress enough
how fun these cars are to cruise around in.
