39,291 actual miles with an interesting history. We have the
original invoice, build sheet, glovebox pouch with the manuals and
warranty card. It was bought new at Royal Oldsmobile in Birmingham
Alabama on July 5th 1972. The owner passed away in 2008 and the
widow sold it back to the owner of Royal Olds per her late
husband's request. It had 31,000 miles at that time. Royal Olds
performed a complete inspection and service, we have receipts. I
just acquired this car from the person I sold it to in 2016.
EXTERIOR: The body is uncut original metal in fantastic shape it is
absolutely straight there are no bubbles or blisters, no rust, no
damage. All the body gaps line up real nicely. It's been repainted
only one time. It has a smooth, glossy finish. They did remove the
vinyl top and the paint is cracking on the driver's sail panel. It
was ordered from the factory with the Y70 stripe package and sport
mirrors. It now has SS1 wheels with the BFG tires to dress it up
even more. The door jambs are very clean original, the weather
strips have been replaced. The chrome and trim is original, still
straight and shiny.
INTERIOR: Certainly looks like a low mile, pampered car on the
inside. The dash area is pristine, there are no cracks. Dash pad,
vents, bezels, heater control panel are in excellent shape. The
cigarette lighter has never even been used. It has an AM FM radio
that plays clearly. It's a tilt column with a sports steering wheel
that is not worn at all. The headliner and visors are excellent. It
has the optional mirror on the visor and the map light under the
mirror. The carpet is excellent and it has reproduction rubber
mats. The original upholstery is very good. The front seat has some
cracks in the seams, it also has a fold down armrest. The back seat
is like brand new. It has complete set of seatbelts in mint
condition. The door panels are mint, they are straight, not beat
up.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Completely stock, there's no monkey business.
It has it's original Vin number matching 350 motor with 4 barrel
carb. All original manifolds, valve covers and air cleaner
assembly, it even still has the heat riser tube. It features
factory air conditioning. The a/c has been serviced a few years ago
with some new parts and updated to 134 freon. It is not blowing
cold, it will need some service again. It also has power steering
and power brakes. The wiper motor looks new and the squirters are
hooked up. The hood insullation has been replaced. Radiator has
been replaced, the shroud and fan are good. The alternator looks
new.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: I love seeing original spatter paint in the
trunk. Most cars have been resprayed out of a can. This one still
has it's original finish from the factory and it's in excellent
shape. That means the metal is original as well. It has a working
trunk light. The spare is a matching SS1 wheel with a BFG tire
that's never been used. It has the complete jack assembly including
the lug wrench. New correct two piece felt mat. Bottom of the trunk
lid is the original paint with the original decals.
UNDERSIDE: Amazingly clean metal. It is bone dry- the floors,
braces, rockers, inner lower quarters are uncut original metal. We
have a receipt for service that was done. One ball joint, control
arm bushings, sway bar kit, idler arm, center link was replaced. In
back the shocks and springs were replaced. The dual exhaust as in
great shape with glass pack style mufflers. It has disc brakes in
front, new hoses, e-brake cables are hooked up. Looking up at the
motor it's not greasy. It has a new rear main seal. The Turbo 350
auto trans is vin # matching.
50 year old survivors are becoming more rare every year that goes
by. This is a real nice example of a clean, honest Cutlass.
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure
your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do
a walk around video that explains the car's condition in
detail.
**These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a
particular car make an appointment with a salesman to see that car.
Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the
showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded and you
will be given a 1 year membership.
