Vehicle Description
The history of Wood-bodied station wagons began in the 30's, often
as commercial vehicles. Chrysler decided to offer in the early 40's
a stylish model, in a 4-door model, before suspension of production
because of WWII. After the war, Chrysler designed a vastly expanded
Town & Country line and this 1948 Convertible is one of the most
sought after models in existence and is a very desirable addition
to any collection.
This outstanding classic automobile shows under 78,000 miles, which
is believed to be from new. And what really stands out is the
interior, finished in a striking blue leather upholstery, a rare
option back in 1948. Coupled with the beautiful wood-grain
exterior, accented by a dark blue paint, it is on Stylish piece of
American history. Add on the grey Wilton wool carpeting, factory
correct accessories including the dual cowl-mounted spotlights,
dual side-view mirrors, dual amber colored fog lights, a Deluxe
push button AM radio, optional dual MoPar 54 heater units, front
and rear bumper guards, and wide white-wall Firestone Deluxe
Champion Gum Dipped 8.20-15 tires mounted on steel wheels. It
doesn't get much better than this.
Powered by a 325 Cubic Inch L-head inline 8-cylinder engine, which
is backed by a 3-speed fluid-drive transmission, making cruising a
dream. It also comes with independent front suspension and live
rear axle with semi-elliptical leaf springs, and four-wheel
hydraulic brakes.
From top to bottom, side to side, this is a very Special Classic
