This 1978 Ford F-150 Short Box Pickup is a very cool, unique, and
original truck. It is a 2 Owner truck that spent its life in
Montana and California. This is a unique truck because the factory
color of Tangerine was only done in 1978 at the San Jose plant.
There are not many clean and original short box pickups out there
anymore especially in this color. The body on this truck is in
excellent condition. This is a survivor truck and everything
appears original including the paint. The color of the paint is
Tangerine and it looks amazing in person. The body is all metal and
rust free with only some minor patina and some paint chips and a
small dent by the rear driver side taillight. The chrome and
stainless are also in great condition. The undercarriage is clean
and solid and there are no rust issues with this truck and there
never have been. The interior is really nice. It has newer carpet
and seat upholstery and it also has newer door panels installed.
The rest of the interior is original and in great shape. Just a
very nice original style interior. Lights, tail lights, brake
lights, turn signals, wipers, and horn are working. The heat and AC
also work well on this truck.
Mechanically this truck is top notch. The last owner spent a lot of
time and money on the mechanicals to make this a great running and
driving and reliable rig. The original 351M V8 engine was replaced
with a mildly built 351W V8 and it runs strong. They added a mild
cam. Edelbrock aluminum intake, edelbrock carb, Mallory ignition,
and headers with dual flowmaster exhaust. It is a very nicely
detailed engine compartment. The transmission is the np435 Manual 4
Speed and it shifts nice with a good clutch. It is mated to the
np205 transfer case and the 4WD works like it should. It has a 9
Inch Rear End with 3.50 gears and it is also a Limited Slip. The
front end is a Dana 44 with 3.50 gears. This is all setting on a
set of chrome rims with new 32 Inch BFG All Terrains on them. This
is a rare truck that won't last long.
