This 1981 Ford F-150 is a custom 4x4 with vibrant paint, an A/C
interior, proper V8 power, and a new lifted stance. And while it
has plenty of show truck style, there are the right work-ready
features, too.
The custom presentation of this one starts with the paint. The
electric-like blue has a high-gloss finish, and the full custom
package has a mean-looking graphic that separates it from the
darker blue in the rear. And if this wasn't already detailed
enough, there's also custom pinstriping and graphics on the
tailgate. There's plenty more flair from the full brightwork of the
windshield overhand, step rails, rockers, grille, bull bar, and
more. And of course, our favorite piece of brightwork is the roll
bar in the bed. It has a full lighting package, and there are KC
lights up front, so you know you can turn night into day whenever
you want. It gives this one the look of both form and function.
That usefulness continues with a ready-to-work bed, wide towing
mirrors, and a proper drop-down trailer hitch.
The interior has a nice classic Ford blue. It's done with both
comfort and usefulness in mind. You have a fold-down center
armrest, cup holders, dual fuel tanks, and an upgraded AM/FM/CD
stereo w/aux input. The CB radio and toggle switches in the
headliner are a nice touch. The sunroof and sliding rear window get
breezes flowing through the cab. And whenever that's not enough,
there's also cold-blowing air conditioning.
Under the hood is Ford's mighty 302 cubic-inch V8. It's said to
have been rebuilt less than 275 miles ago. It's a strong runner
that now inhales deeply with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor.
And the dual exhaust gives a nice big truck sound. There's at least
a half-foot of lift from the newer Superglide suspension, and the
awesome set of Dick Cepek Radial F-C II tires let you know this 4x4
is ready for off-road fun. Plus, there's power steering, power
brakes, front discs, and the C6 three-speed automatic transmission
give this a solid feeling around town.
