Vehicle Description
This 1981 Jeep CJ5 has the look and investments to really maximize
its go-anywhere prowess. So the deeper you dig on this 4x4, the
more you're going to love it beyond just the value price.
Take a good look at the paint. It's going to make you go in one of
two directions. There are some of us who see the need for an update
and realize the value price should leave room in your budget to
personalize this with a respray. But there are also a lot of us who
wouldn't change a thing. The finishing is transitioning into a
patina-like style that looks really cool. Also, when your paint is
as carefree as this, you're going to hit the narrow trails with the
kind of untroubled attitude that no Range Rover owner will even
know. And later we'll even get into all the investments on the
mechanical end that make this a confident off-roader. And
regardless of your plans, this has the solid look of a solid body
tub. Plus, you have desirable features, like the Renegade fender
flares, high-lift jack, tow hitch, and a full-size spare on a
swing-away mount.
The interior has a rugged attitude mixed with the right additions.
There's an updated pair of bucket sets upfront finished in a
durable and taut black vinyl. These coordinate nicely with the rear
seat and newer dash pad. This also has some nice comfort features
like a tilt steering column, cup holder center console, and a
modern AM/FM/CD stereo with Bluetooth. This also has some
good-looking soft doors, and the sale comes with a brand new soft
top that's still in the box.
The heart of this Jeep's appeal is that there have been some great
investments all around this classic, and you really see some great
ones in the engine bay. Jeep's legionary 258 cubic-inch inline-six
has a very tidy style. You can instantly tell there has been recent
maintenance, with newer plugs, wires, distributor cap, fuel pump,
and alternator. We even have maintenance records from 2020 showing
$2,225 for new shocks, master cylinder, brake calipers, and drum
shoes. The motor drives nicely, and the four-speed manual
transmission takes control. A two-speed transfer case, lifted
suspension, and the deep treads on the Cooper Discoverer AT3
off-road tires make for a solid 4x4. Plus, the power steering and
front disc brakes make this a fine choice even when you're just in
town.
This CJ5 is for those who need a cool classic Jeep to get them out
into nature, or since it's so value-priced, it can even be a great
place to start a restoration project. It's all up to you to choose
this Jeep's next chapter...but only if you call today!
