The local John Deere dealer lost a sale due to his lowball trade-in offer on this nice tractor. They sold it to the hobby farmer when it was new, but decided to offer a ridiculous price when it came back in for trade. So the farmer went to another dealer and bought his new tractor without trading this one in. He bought a tractor with a cab, heat and air conditioning for his Father. He decided to sell this one outright.
I used a predecessor to this tractor frequently 20 years ago and found it to be a very handy machine. Even though I prefer Case-IH! When I saw this one come up for sale, it seemed smart to buy it, clean it up and offer it for sale. Or, maybe it will get used to plow the driveway this winter. Quicker than the blower!
This tractor is two years old and has 919 hours on it. It was used on a hobby farm and mostly for handling hay. They farmed land that was 20 miles from home, so it saw a lot of time on the road. That led to worn tires and additional hours. But those were easy hours. It loaded hay, raked hay and hauled hay. It was not a tractor used in the barnyard or for mowing ditches. It did not get abused and was routinely maintained. It was not hard to clean it up and make it look like new again.
When he ordered the tractor, he was wise to add the second remote hydraulic. He also went for the heavy duty 520M loader and added the larger 85 inch wide bucket.
This tractor is nicely equipped. It has a 65 HP three cylinder diesel engine, 3 range and four speed transmission, reverser, mechanical front wheel drive, 2 speed PTO, differential lock, tilt steering, turn signals, ROPS and seat belt, foot throttle and joystick for the loader. Auxiliary lighting was added.
The rear tires are 16.9x28 and are at least 60%. The front tires are 9.5x24 and are around 30%. There is a tool box and it contains the Owner’s Manual. There are two keys.
The 520M loader has the Single Point Hydraulic Couple. It is very easy to detach the loader utilizing the Integrated Parking Stands. If you have it down to a system, detachment only takes 2 minutes. Reattaching is the reverse process and should only take 3 minutes.
The 520M has a quick detach bucket and there are additional attachments available. This loader will lift 3500 pounds to 11 feet high. It has breakaway force of 4600 pounds. It is really quite capable.
It is important to have proper counter balance to utilize the full capacity of a loader. The rear tires are loaded the Rim Guard for ballast. Rim Guard is a beet juice product that will not cause corrosion.
This is a very nice looking unit. The paint is shiny, nothing is damaged and the seat is not torn. Everything works properly. It was always kept in the shed, so the plastic components are not sun damaged.
I like the 5000 series John Deere tractors. The 520M loader is a beast. This is a well-equipped unit that has been used with care. It is barely broke in and will offer many, many hours of future use.
