Vehicle Description
This 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air "Fuelie" Convertible took a first place
award at the AACA national competition after it underwent an
extensive frame-off restoration. 1957 was the final year for the
Tri-Five Chevys and became one of the most iconic automobiles ever
produced. In 1957, Chevrolet did redesign several key stylistic
aspects from the previous year Bel Airs. Perhaps the most
recognizable change on the '57 Chevy are the large fins protruding
from the rear quarter panels that give the Bel Air a truly classic
50s look. Chevrolet also tweaked the look on the front ends, with a
totally new looking grille and bumper layout as well as a flatter
hood with dual wind splits. To differentiate from the lower-end 150
and 210 models, the Bel Air trim featured an elevated gold anodized
"V" emblem on the front of the hood with matching trim in the three
small indentations located on the front quarter panels behind the
headlights along with a matching gold "V" emblem and gold "Bel Air"
script on the trunk. Chevrolet also began offering new and more
powerful engine options on its top-of-the-line Bel Air series and
most notable was its Fuel Injected 283 V8. Utilizing a Rochester
mechanical Fuel Injection system, the "Fuelie" 283 V8s were way
ahead of their time and were among the first mass-produced American
made cars with this type of technology. The Fuel Injected Bel Airs
were also exceptionally rare, with Chevrolet only producing 1,530
fuelies while producing over one and a half million vehicles in
1957. This particular Fuelie Bel Air Convertible underwent an
extensive frame off, rotisserie restoration and was then judged at
the Antique Automobile Club of America's Nationals where it took
the first place award. Found under the hood on this '57 Bel Air
Convertible is a Fuel Injected 283 Cubic Inch V8 Engine that runs
great and pushed out 250 horsepower in its day. A Powerglide
Automatic Transmission is mated to the FI 283 V8, ensuring that
anybody can drive this classic Chevy convertible. This Belair
Convertible is also equipped with Power Steering so that you can
get in and out of tight spaces with ease. The white vinyl power
convertible top is in excellent condition, going up and down with
the simple push of a button. The exterior has been beautifully
refinished in this Bel Air's original color, Matador Red, which
probably the quintissential colors available on these 57 Chevys.
The chrome and brightwork around the exterior of the car is in
fantastic show-worthy condition. This Bel-Air convertible sits on 4
wide whitewall bias-ply tires with gorgeous spinner hubcaps which
completes the exterior look of the car. The interior is absolutely
stunning! The front and rear bench seats have been reupholstered in
the original Red and Silver color scheme and are paired with
fantastic black carpeting. The dash, door panels, and steering
wheel are all in their stock configuration and are in excellent
condition. The dash is equipped with a 120 MPH speedometer, fuel
gauge, and temperature gauge, along with an AM radio and clock.
