105 actual miles! That is correct, not a typo. The original temp
tag is still in the windshield. The story is August Mews' friend
got a job as a salesman so August bought a car from him to help him
out. August didn't really need or want the car. He tried to return
it and the dealer said no. So he parked it in a garage and never
used it. A 2nd owner bought it 20 years ago because he thought it
was amazing having such low miles. So of course he kept it garaged
and did not add to the miles. He passed away and here it is. It
must be one of the best 47 year old survivors to exist, certainly
one of the lowest mile cars.
EXTERIOR: It is as close to a new 1974 as you'll find. Absolutely
no rust for damage in the body. Nothing was dropped on it, no one
hit the garage backing it out. I don't even find a door ding. It
looks like it's all original paint. It is very smooth and glossy,
not cracked or chalky. The original painted pinstripe isn't even
worn. All the chrome and moldings are shiny and straight. Some tiny
freckles on the bumper and taillights. The vinyl top has some
cracks and was redyed. It has the landau bars, optional moldings,
optional bumper guards and cornering lights. All the glass is
crystal clear and amazingly enough it still has the window sticker
attached. It also still has the EPA sticker and the temp tag
attached to the windows. It still has the original Goodyear tires.
The hubcaps are mint. The door jambs are mint. All the rubber
weather strips are still soft.
INTERIOR: It is the same as sitting in a brand new 1974. No foul
smells, no mice, no wear or tear. Everything looks new except a
small crack on each front plastic armrest. No fading, upholstery is
pristine, seat belts are excellent. Door panels, headliner, visors,
carpet, instrument panel look new. The cigarette lighter has never
been used. Starting instructions are still on the visor.
The glove box pouch has the manuals, pamphlets, second copy of the
window sticker. The AM radio plays clear, the clock still
works.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Absolutely original except for a replacement
battery and 1 cable. It's never been spraycanned or touched up. It
features power steering and power brakes. The 351 motor still has
original decals and paint markings from the factory. The air
cleaner is complete with all the ductwork. It has original hoses
and belts.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The giant trunk has the optional carpet liner.
Behind it the factory spatter finish is still pristine. The
original spare tire has never been out of the car, still has the
ink stamps on the tread. The jack has never been removed. The
original weather strip is still soft.
UNDERSIDE: Underneath is completely original. As you'd expect it
does have some light surface haze of rust. It's never been sprayed
over. You can still see factory tags, stickers and paint markings.
It even has the original exhaust system. Disc brakes up front.
This is a time capsule. Nobody can go back in time and recreate
this car. Here is a chance to own something nobody else will have.
Trailer it to shows, people will be amazed.
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure
your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do
a walk around video that explains the car's condition in
detail.
**These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a
particular car make an appointment with a salesman to see that car.
Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the
showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded and you
will be given a 1 year membership.
