Vehicle Description
1954 Chevrolet 3100 Pickup
There's just something about old school pickups that's universally
appealing. To us, they're clean, straightforward work vehicles
which have morphed into wildly popular classics. And it seems many
enthusiasts agree, as trucks like this original Chevy are some of
our hottest sellers...because they are trucks!
For consignment, a rad rodded resto-modded ride in the form of a
Chevrolet 3100 pickup. This creation has some sharing going on,
slamming taking place, wonderful patriotic red, white and blue
paint, and has the 5 window cab for that 50's look with a modern
twist under the hood. Wheels up!
Exterior
With its blue winged topless goddess leading the way on the front
of the hood, this truck screams customization. The front bumper has
been shaved, and the 5 horizontal bar grille is painted a beautiful
white Imron 817U on the lowers, bed sides and running boards.
Curved fenders, and a bulbous hood give it that 50's look but the
shaved bumper a modern twist. Also helloing is the blue topped
bulbous hood and cab top. 3 red stripes between the white and blue
accentuate the delineation and give it a patriotic
look...SAAAHLUTE! Some minor rust is seen on a few seams and areas
of chip offs are also noted. Chromed deep dish trim rings with
shiny moon caps in the centers are wrapped in black wall rubber,
and a shut out to the bed which is newly lined with oak and has
white painted frame mounting separators between each board. On the
back the tailgate has a painted Chevrolet SS 305 badge adorning it.
The rear bumper has been shaved and the roll pan now houses
horizontal taillights. Also, on the center rear glass we can see
the Heartbeat of America. I say: Baseball, Hot Dogs, Apple Pie, And
Chevrolet.
Interior
A swing of the doors and we see blue canvas and tweed broadcloth
that has a peppering of small "pills" in various colors. These
panels show some slight smudging. Moving our eyes to the prize of
the interior, a split back bench with a center fold down armrest is
also covered in canvas and tweed and this is in light gray. Thick
pile deep blue carpeting covers the floors, and the dash has been
refitted with some blue paint for the top and parts of the dash
front which houses original gauges in two round clusters. In the
center are more padded broadcloth with some extra gauges and an
aftermarket AM/FM/Cassette stereo. Vintage air hangs below. It is
nice the dash retains some of the vertical chromed trim stripes of
the original on either side of the tweed center padded panel. The
steering wheel is a LeCarra 4 spoke with a leather ring rally style
wheel. Up top is some blue shiny vinyl with steel strips separating
the panels.
Drivetrain
In an engine bay that has a polished aluminum firewall and nicely
attended to wheel well coverings sits a 305ci V8 engine. It has a
single 4-barrel with an Edelbrock intake. A TH400 3-speed automatic
is on back and a 10-bolt rear axle is installed. All looking bada
bling with the polished firewall and chromed Moroso valve coverings
and air cleaner dish covering.
Undercarriage
An overall patina abounds with very little rust, save for it
coating the exhaust piping. Body hangers are solid as is the frame.
The underside of the wood still looks good. Independent coil
springs for the front ride and leaf springs for the rear. Disc
brakes are now upfront, and drums on the back.
Drive-Ability
She fired right up and ran like a patriotic champ on the test
track. Nice smooth acceleration that can get it up there if you
keep your foot onto it, and good handling as well as bias free
panic braking. All functions were working well, I did have to
"fiddle" with the A/C to get it to blow cold, but it eventually
did!
A custom one of a kind looking Chevy 3100 Pickup that can march
into your driveway and turn heads while doing it. Also, this truck
is no slouch on the competition front, and you can pull up as a
sleeper. Yes SIR!
