Vehicle Description
For eighteen years, Mercury a division of Ford built the Monterey,
it was a full size automobile built in a body styles. The Monterey
would serve as the flagship, mid-range and entry level offering for
Mercury. It is also the only Mercury nameplate that would be in
continuous production throughout all of the 1960's This absolute
wonderful example we are pleased to present was first registered in
AZ in 1955 and would not leave the dry Southwest climate until
2011. We have a copy of the AZ title upon being sold from what
appears to be long-term ownership. The current consignor purchased
the car and has used it very sparingly in the summer months here in
northern Michigan. Several years ago, the car did undergo a
complete mechanical rebuild with receipts. The 292 cubic inch V8
starts, runs and goes down the road with better than expected
power. I have been all over this car and other than some paint fade
which appears to be original and some very minor what is to be
expected of a sixty five year old survivor surface rust on the very
bottom of the rockers, this Monterey is solid as a rock. After
putting a couple miles on this car personally, I feel like I could
trust this to go just about anywhere. All the lights work, the
brakes pull evenly and with a newer dual exhaust it sounds just
right. These are getting hard to find in unmolested or unrestored
condition in this type of shape.
