Vehicle Description
This 1967 Mercury Cougar XR7 is the first year ever for this model.
So there's no better way to represent how this car merges sporty
and premium than with a true GT model that has everything from A/C
to a big 390ci V8. It's a bold classic that also shines brighter
when you take it out for a drive.
The Mercury Cougar was the Mustang's rarer and more luxurious
cousin, and it carries that distinction nicely. It was upgraded to
a professional application of burgundy paint later in life. Today
that gives you an ideal mix of the boldness of red but with deeper
and more sophisticated tones. And the metallic element really loves
to radiate style. And the extra luster of the paint goes well with
the bright shine coming from the chrome bumpers, dual exhaust tips,
and Center Line 15-inch wheels. Overall, it's a very clean and
straight resonation that includes all your favorite pieces,
including the hidden headlight front end, a black vinyl roof, and
distinct sequential taillights.
The interior is highly original and nicely optioned. That means
leather seats, plush carpeting, a smooth dash, desirable center
console, plenty of wood-like trim, and full gauges w/tach. Even
details like the courtesy lights are still illuminating when you
open the door. The seats show all the right signs of being original
to the car. It all looks quite good, but the driver's one has some
inevitable wear. You may decide to re-cover it, but we actually
like its current form. After all, you can only be original once,
and on a premium Cougar, this leather looks like it has been lived
in like your favorite motorcycle jacket. The included Marti Report
details how this came with some terrific features for the time,
like the AM/FM radio and air conditioning, and they are still
present and working today. It's just another one of the little
things that make this Mercury really gives off a vintage and
premium feeling.
This was born an ultra-desirable S-code coupe, and the correct
displacement 390 cubic-inch V8 is still under the hood today. And
this one has even been upgraded with a Carter competition-series
four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock high-rise intake, a full MSD
ignition package, and Hooker headers feeding into the dual exhaust.
It's a strong motor, and the C6 three-speed transmission is a stout
unit that also gives you easy automatic cruising. That complements
great anytime driving features like the power steering, power
brakes, front discs, and wide modern tires.
This is the distinct first-year Cougar that gives you premium
features and GT appeal. Don't miss out, call today!
