History About Jaguar's XKE Series Models:
The XKE series Jaguar was an instant success from the moment it
appeared at the automotive seen in 1961! As each new generation was
improved from the last, the XKE Series continued to offer more and
more to the buyers after the prestigious luxury sports car from
England! This included improved brakes, better suspension, superior
interior comfort, more significant cooling, and bigger displacement
engines. By 1971, the short wheelbase offering was long gone in
favor of a quality ride, and power steering was now a standard
feature. The Series III was born with a V12 with quad
Zenith-Stromberg carburetion under the bonnet, and only 7,990
convertibles were produced over the entire four-year
production!

We are delighted to offer collectors the chance to purchase this
beautiful 1973 Jaguar XKE Series III convertible finished in Sable
Brown over a beautifully kept Biscuit Tan Leather interior with
matching Tan cloth soft top! Options include a number matching 5.3L
V12 engine, producing a powerful 272 horsepower, 4-speed
synchromesh manual transmission, chrome 15" wire spoke wheels with
Dunlop whitewall tires, Clarion AM/FM Stereo radio, quad outlet
chrome exhaust, leather wrapped steering wheel & shift knob, remote
outside mirror, and rubber floor mats! Standard options included a
responsive 4-wheel independent suspension with matching disc brakes
at all four corners, small front & rear bumper guards, and full
Smiths dash instrumentation with tachometer!
This wonderfully survived example is showing just 27,354 miles
which is believed to be original from new, although the St. Louis
Car Museum was not provided enough evidence to support a true
mileage claim. It has been repainted one time in the distant past
while retaining it all original interior upholstery. Both present
wonderfully in person with a genuinely original appeal. The
convertible soft top is brand new while retaining the factory boot
cover when stowed. Moreover, the body is exceptionally solid with
factory gaps and fitment of all panels.
After arrival to the St. Louis Car Museum, an inspection of the
exhaust system warranted a complete replacement. We opted for the
complete Bell stainless steel system with stainless steel
collectors. All exhaust manifold bolts were replaced in the
process. This is an exceptional upgrade and should provide years of
durable service. Our expert service team also replaced the outer
tie-rod boots, anti-sway bar bushings, right front ball joint dust
boot, fuel tank sump filter & seal, coolant rail gaskets, coolant
hoses, new coolant, engine oil & filter, rear brake hose, brake
reservoir cap, bled the brake system, installed a new breather
tube, and tuned the carburetors.
It starts, runs, and drives with great bravado with a tremendously
pure Jaguar sound from the new exhaust! The brakes and throttle are
equally responsive, ready for a more spirited drive or a relaxing
cruise on Sunday morning! It is an exceptional road car with ample
power on tap!
