Vehicle Description
1992 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe
Don't purchase a '92 Corvette and squirrel it away in a warehouse
hoping it will make you wealthy. If you want to collect something
that really might make a fortune someday, vintage lunch boxes,
1950's Eames era furniture, hood ornaments, or a limited run of
"Michael Jackson's Neverland Commemorative plates would be the
ticket. This car was made to be driven. It would be a shame to own
it and have it any other way.
For consignment a very nice 1992 Corvette in menacing black with an
almost full service record history. This coupe is all original and
all good. A jump in, turn the key, and have loads of enjoyment kind
of car. Pedal to the metal, or lightly tickling it with your toe on
a windy undulating drive, only having logged 82,075 miles. There is
plenty of life yet to be lived with this Classic Corvette.
Exterior
All correct Corvette badging, stuck to the immaculate black
fiberglass exterior, and a blue smoked glass removable targa style
top to let some air and sun in. Integrated matching bumpers very
thin in height in the low-slung front, and squared off on the rear,
this iconic design "Vette" drips early 90's conventions.
Interior
Black leather buckets with wonderfully pleasing patina show use and
slight entry and exit abuse on both the lower driver's bolster and
the middle upper bolster. Lowering yourself into this cockpit, you
will feel like a sports car endurance driver, strapped in but with
all the creature comforts: power seat controls, power windows,
cruise control, climate control, power locks, power mirrors,
Adjustable Ride Control and a factory AM/FM/Cassette/CD sound
system that will be music to your ears. A smattering of black vinyl
accents in the form of the center console, door pulls, dash, and
armrests, breaks up all the gray leather and gives the cockpit a
very classy yet sporty look. A large information screen is seen, as
well as a mixture of analog and digital gauges that cascade in an
arch that matches the circumference of the steering wheel.
Drivetrain
A 350ci LT-1 V8 with EFI and a ZF 6-speed manual transmission, all
correct for this car, and nicely presented. 3.45 is the gear ratio
on the rear.
Undercarriage
Used but in a careful doting way would be the way to describe the
wonderfully preserved original rust-free undercarriage. Independent
suspension with transverse leaf springs, dual exhaust with
chambered mufflers, and power disc brakes all around are noted.
Drive-Ability
A great sports car feel, this car came to life immediately, ran
smoothly and shifted with ease as I rowed the oars. The car handles
nicely especially with being able to adjust the ride control on the
fly, and a comfortable environment with cold air blowing from the
A/C, and good sound from exhaust. I did notice that the power
antenna does not retract when the stereo is turned off.
We take in a lot of 90's era Corvettes here at the Classic Auto
Mall, some have been hermetically sealed in a bubble while others
have been beaten hard and put away wet. Typically, they were bought
by individuals who found success, and wanted a powerful status car
they could fool around with, punch the gas, put down some rubber,
and move on to another vehicle. This car could be described as a
favorite toy for its owner, who painstakingly took care of all
aspects of the responsibilities and maintenance that come with a
sports car from the early 90's. Used but not abused, and all
nice... isn't it your time to own a Corvette?
