For Sale: 1961 Ford Galaxie in Lavergne, Tennessee

Vehicle Description

This 1961 Ford Galaxie Starliner has an ultra-sleek dark look and an awesome hardtop profile. But what really makes it irresistible is the enhanced V8 under the hood and your total control thanks to an upgraded five-speed.

Starliners are truly a special form of the full-size Fords. They have a sleek roofline and pillarless hardtop profile. Not only is this attractive, but it was also rarer than the convertible in '61. Because this is so special, the coupe was given a high-quality upgrade in paint. Black is expensive, but when you get it right, it looks like a grand piano. And since this is applied to super-straight sheet metal, it commands attention the moment the sunlight hits this coupe. Good glass and updated weather-stripping go with the car's quality feel. Plus, the intricate brightwork package appears stock and complete. We like the details, like how the grille pattern is repeated on the rear panel, the bumpers wrap around the sides, and the full-length trim even opens up at the rear for added shine. And those stars at the base of the hardtop let this Ford live up to its name. Just to make sure this sporty and vintage image is maximized, there's an iconic set of Torq Thrust wheels with an 18/20 inch front/rear stagger to give you a more aggressive stance.

There's more great black on the inside. This color was a change-over later in life, and that means a freshness to the fundamentals, like the upholstery, carpeting, door panels, and headliner. So you'll happily leave all the windows down on this pillarless hardtop so you can show off the full blackout package inside and out. This full-size Ford has plenty of room to carry family and friends, and there's even a nice upgrade to a retro-style AM/FM/cassette stereo. But you're always going to be the one who has the most fun in this coupe. There's a great classic vibe in everything from the long speedometer to the feel of the thin-rimmed steering wheel. But the moment you grip the floor shifter, you also get the tingle of performance.

While this was born at the beginning of the power car era, some of our favorite engines were not yet available. This one rectifies that with Ford's famous 351 cubic-inch V8 now under the hood. In fact, this one comes from one of the final years For was using this mighty motor. More than just younger, the full powerhouse has been enhanced with Brodix aluminum heads, a Holley four-barrel carburetor w/electric choke, a Weiand dual-plane aluminum intake, a roller camshaft, and long tube headers. There are also good supporting components like an MSD Pro- billet distributor, MSD 6AL ignition, and an aluminum radiator. And between the upgraded cam and the Borla mufflers, you have a terrific exhaust note. Plus, any time you really want to bring the thunder, this one has cutouts, too. This gives you the best control over this big power V8 with an upgrade to a Tremec five-speed manual transmission. It also has a solid feel on the road, and that's aided by everything from power steering to the modern/grippy ZR-rated tires.

This is the cool and rare Galaxie Starliner that makes a powerful statement with its look and muscle. Don't let it slip away, call today!
