They just keep rollin' in!! Here's a 1959 Morgan series II 4/4 Roadster consigned just last week. It's a classic British sports car with genetics spiraling back to 1910. It evolved from the original 3-wheel Morgan Runabout to this classic low slung 2-seater. Morgans have many racing and speed records stacking up in the first half of the 20th Century. It stands to reason that Morgans became a favorite for UK auto collectors as well as collectors around the world.
This roadster was purchased in Florida in the 1980’s and found it’s way to Iowa where it’s been in storage since. On occasion it was taken to parades and community showings. Today it’s in much the same condition as when found.
The body and interior are in very good original condition, with no visible damage excepting fractured enamel paint. This ’59 model came with wire wheels and the side-valve 1172 cc Ford 100E engine. It was used with a Ford three-speed gearbox. The engine produced 36 bhp. Yes, this lightweight low to the ground sports car could perform!
It shows the Fergus Imported Cars, New York, NY tag and their Stock No. 21939. In the cockpit, looking through the wood trimmed steering wheel, the original Stewart Warner odometer shows just 2,156 miles.
Lights & turn signals not working. Wiring needs attention. In running condition, With just 386 of this model built between 1955 & 1960, and that’s a very small run with the Anglia engine, this roadster would be an excellent candidate for preservation or complete restoration.
