Vehicle Description
This 1968 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 Tribute has been well-equipped to
mirror the "performance-plus" version of the model, carrying period
correct big block power under its hood that pairs with its strong
classic looks.
This classic Olds makes a very strong impression, putting it in
pretty select company as far as curb appeal is concerned. This is
one very sharp looking muscle car. The paint presents very well,
with a nicely applied, even basecoat combining with a very strong
clearcoat to produce an impressive result. Up front, the grille
sits precisely aligned between the pair of dual headlights over a
table straight, clean bumper, while in back the prominent "442"
badging really pops against its yellow background. Fresh
weatherstripping surrounds the doors and deck lid to keep the
elements out, and every emblem sits securely in place. This is a
very well-detailed classic.
The interior has been refurbished in black and retains the factory
look this Olds had when it left the factory. Owing to their light
usage, both the wide-backed buckets up front and the bench seat in
back remain very well padded, with their covers showing no real
signs of wear. The black of the seating presents a nice contrast
against the black center console and fresh black carpeting running
underneath the seating. The shift lever sits within easy reach,
beckoning you to climb in and put this vintage muscle car through
its paces. Just beyond the stock Oldsmobile steering wheel, the
dash area looks great, with wood inserts that appear to have been
recently applied and a set of gauges in the instrument cluster that
sit behind clear lenses. The trunk area in back is nice and tidy,
with an unstained liner on its floor and fresh rubber seal sitting
against the deck lid.
The "442" model designation of this Oldsmobile refers to its
combination carb, manual transmission and dual exhaust, and it's
well represented here, with a 4-barrel sitting on top of a 400
cubic inch V8 and equipped with an Edelbrock aluminum intake
manifold and heads. The engine has logged so few miles that it's
just coming into its own and sounds great as it sings through its
dual exhaust. The 4-speed manual transmission sitting just behind
it is known for its power-handling capabilities, so it's right at
home in this setting. Power steering makes navigation a breeze,
while Four-wheel power brakes that feature discs up front, provide
plenty of stopping power as this great looking GM classic cruises
on its 15" Oldsmobile wheels.
