Vehicle Description
HIGHLIGHTS: Super clean 1969 Corvette survivor! Numbers matching
350 V8, automatic, and A/C! Beautiful factory correct Fathom Green
over green bucket seats. Complete ownership history since new!
HISTORY: A strike at the St. Louis plant meant production for the
'69 Corvettes stretched to December of '69. This particular car
left the factory on 11/19/69. A couple of months later it was sold
new from Scarborough Chevrolet in Statesville, NC. In 1972, the car
was sold to the second owner who held it until 2009 when he sold it
to his daughter and the car left North Carolina and spent
approximately 6 years in Florida. It was then sold back to her
father in 2015. It changed hands in 2017 and then again in 2020
before arriving at Sheltons. Included in the sale is a copy of
nearly every title ever issued on the car, and a copy of the
original MSO.
BODY OVERVIEW: The body on this Corvette is in great shape for the
age. Seasoned Corvette owners will be happy to know that the
bonding strips are still present so you can rest assured these are
the factory panels. When you take in account that this car has
never seen a restoration, then you get a much clearer picture for
how well its been taken care of. The front chrome bumper is showing
its age a little, but beyond that the rest of the chrome shows very
well. This car is the perfect vehicle to cruise with care and to
take to local events.
PAINT CONDITION OVERVIEW: Even though this car hasn't seen a
restoration, we do know that it has seen a repaint in its factory
correct Fathom Green. We are unsure of when it was painted, but
based on the condition of the paint we would guess sometime in the
late 80's early 90s. It shows very well at 10-feet but upon closer
inspection you'll see typical wear and tear that is consistent with
a car that has been on the road for the majority of its life.
Ultimately, it's gorgeous and has a depth that can only be achieved
by this shade of green.
INTERIOR CONDITION OVERVIEW: The interior is in great shape and
much like the body is showing some age here and there. Originally
leaving the factory with green leather seats, at some point the
front seats were recovered in a green vinyl and they show well.
There are no rips or tears in the interior and everything works the
way its suppose to, except the wiper door needs some help going up
and down. One notable change is the addition of a RetroSound radio
and a new Chevy themed steering wheel. Lastly, the original metal
gauge faces of the speedometer and tachometer are in rough cosmetic
condition. A previous owner opted to replace them with new gauges,
however the original gauges (including the odometer with the
mileage reading from when it was removed) are pictured and included
in the sale.
MECHANICAL OVERVIEW: Powering this corvette is the factory numbers
matching 350 V8. The stamp pad wears the correct HZ 300hp Suffix
and as well the correct partial vin. This Corvette fires up with
ease; quite impressively for a survivor! Even when cold, a bump of
the key will cause this V8 to spring to life. It runs smoothly, has
just the right exhaust note for a C3 Corvette, and has more than
enough power to have some fun. Equipped with power steering and
power brakes, she is a blast to drive. Up front, a new aluminum
radiator has already been replaced to ensure hot summer day fun.
The A/C blows cold but the compressor is a bit noisy when turned
on.
WHAT YOU'LL LOVE ABOUT THIS CAR: Very rarely do you find a car with
this much history and originality.
WHAT YOU MIGHT HATE ABOUT THIS CAR: Since it hasn't seen a
restoration, this car might not be for everyone. But, make no
mistake this car can be enjoyed the way it sits.
DOES IT NEED ANYTHING? Most everything works on the car. But the
two notable items are the A/C compressor that is a little noisy and
the wiper door that needs a little help going up and down. The
wipers work just fine, but the door on the cowl is vacuum operated
and needs manual assistance to operate.
WHAT BUYER IS LOOKING FOR THIS CAR? Anyone looking for a
numbers-matching C3 Corvette at an affordable price that they could
keep original or take to the next level and make it their own.
