This is the real deal!! Documented with original build sheet that
was found behind the passenger door panel. It also has original
Protect-o-plate which has the motor, trans and rear end numbers as
well as the original buyer's and dealer's info. It still has it's
born with #s matching motor, trans and rear. Only 2 owners, both
from West Virginia. Same owner the last 29 years! Born as you see
it, same colors options etc. The 2nd owner gave it a body off frame
restoration in 1998. He just told me he drove it about 15,000 miles
since without a single issue. This is one of the most legit 1970
Chevelle SS I've seen. No funny business, no restamped #s, nothing
to apologize for.
EXTERIOR: Repainted it's original Cortez silver color, very
desirable. Very clean, all metal body with no rust or damage. He
said it has new GM fenders and GM driver side full quarter. The
passenger quarter was skinned. The cowl induction flapper works. It
was painted over 20 years ago and there are no signs of blisters,
cracking or shrinking. The car is absolutely straight, all the
panels fit square and flush. Repainted it's original Cortez silver
color. The metal flake is laid out evenly and has a clear coat
finish that is polished like glass. The stripes are painted smooth
to the touch. Jambs are painted real nice, weatherstrips were
replaced. The chrome and stainless trim are excellent. Vinyl top
looks like new. SS wheels are painted nice.
INTERIOR: This is the original interior except front seat covers,
carpet and headliner. It really shows how well the car was cared
for. The instrument panel is original, it it slightly worn but it
is not cracked or cut. There is a retro stereo that fits in the
factory hole and 6x9 speakers are in back. The heater control panel
is real nice, the SS steering wheel is original, dash pad is mint.
The light works in the glove box. The door panels are original and
in very nice shape. The Hurst 4-speed has the correct shift boot
and retainer.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Rebuilt #s matching 396-350 hp motor that was
born with this car. It has the original manifolds, reproduction
chrome valve covers, correct carb, correct fuel pump. It has a
complete and functional cowl induction system. Everything looks
proper- correct shroud, radiator, fan, washer bottle is hooked up.
Features include power steering and power brakes.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Real solid metal that was spatter painted gray
and white. It has a Goodyear tire and a painted SS wheel for a
spare. The original jack is included. Under the trunk lid and jamb
is painted real nicely. New weather strip.
UNDERSIDE: The body was removed from the frame for a complete
restoration. It has the F-41 suspension which includes front and
rear sway bars and boxed rear control arms. The front end was
entirely rebuilt- bushings, ball joints, springs, shocks, tie rod
ends and steering components. The rear bushings, springs and Delco
shocks were replaced. Correct style exhaust system with the SS
cowbell tips. Looking up at the motor it's clean Chevy orange,
correct starter was rebuilt. #s matching M-20 Muncie 4-speed. #s
matching 12 bolt 3.31 posi rear. The floors are very clean and
smooth. The whole bottom of the car is painted a satin black. The
frame and suspension parts are also smooth metal that were prepped
and painted.
This is a rare opportunity, trust me, it really is! To get a 2
owner, documented 1970 Chevelle SS with original #s matching
drivetrain, a 4-speed, cowl induction and great colors is unheard
of. This is investment grade.
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure
your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do
a walk around video that explains the car's condition in
detail.
**These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a
particular car make an appointment with a salesman to see that car.
Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the
