Vehicle Description
Nicknamed "Race Red," this first-generation classic Mustang is
simply stunning with its gorgeous design and color combination. It
has been completely restored to show-quality standards and is
loaded with upgrades throughout. As the VIN indicates, this car was
built in Metuchen, NJ, as a 1966 Ford Mustang fastback with a 289ci
4V 225hp V8 engine. The vision of this build was to create the
ultimate pony car with great looks, modern features and a powerful
drivetrain. Finding early Mustangs built with the features of this
one isn't common. The body wasn't modified to keep the original
factory appearance. It was finished in Ford Race Red, which looks
spectacular. This is a bright shade of red that really makes the
exterior pop. The paint was recently detailed to a brilliant shine.
The front and rear glass were replaced new and are crystal clear.
Everything on the exterior was replaced, with the window trim, dual
mirrors, front bumper, door handles, taillight bezels, gas cap and
rear bumper all being new. Custom exterior touches include an open
front grille, LED headlights with daytime running lights,
sequential taillights and custom 347 emblems. The car sits on
17-inch American Racing Torq Thrust wheels that have a gray center
and polished lip. The era-correct-appearing wheels are wrapped with
Sumitomo HTR tires that are 205/50/17 on the front and 235/45/17 on
the rear. The red interior was completely refinished and is in
beautiful condition throughout. Everything in the interior was
replaced new, such as the headliner, sun visors, dash pad, dash,
glove box door, steering column, door sills, door panels, door
hardware, rear panels, rear seat and carpeting. Custom interior
touches include Dakota Digital HDX black gauges, Classic Auto air
conditioning, 3-spoke steering wheel with black wrap, Pro Car
bucket seats upholstered to match the factory rear seat, center
console with cup holders and storage compartment, chrome shifter
and custom sound system. The trunk compartment was nicely restored
with a factory-style trunk mat. The engine compartment is highly
detailed, and everything was replaced new. The hood is held with
Ringbrothers aluminum hood hinges; a Global West strut tower and
fender braces were customized to fit and painted black. It's
powered by a MJM built 347ci V8 that dyno-tested with 420hp and 432
ft/lbs of torque. The engine block was painted Ford Gray and
upgraded with many high-performance parts, such as a SCAT 4340
forged crankshaft that was internally balanced, SCAT 5.4 forged
connecting rods, Mahle pistons, Scorpion roller rockers, Ford
Performance hydraulic roller cam, double roller timing chain,
Canton oil pan, 190cc aluminum heads, Edelbrock Performer intake,
Cobra valve covers, Cobra air cleaner and custom pulleys. It's
equipped with a Quick Fuel Street Brawler 650 cfm carburetor,
Pertronix 3 electronic ignition system, high-performance fuel pump,
braided lines and Tuff Stuff alternator. The engine is cooled by a
Cold Case aluminum radiator with two SPAL electric fans. The engine
breathes through ceramic headers and X-pipe exhaust system with
Flowmaster mufflers. The engine is coupled to a TREMEC 5-speed
manual transmission ordered from American Powertrain. It's equipped
with a RAM performance clutch and billet flywheel. The power is
transferred to the rebuilt rear end with Eaton posi-traction and
Motive 3.80 gears. The undercarriage is also highly detailed, and
everything was replaced new. The floors were finished in the
correct Red Oxide color. It's equipped with a Borgeson power
steering system. The suspension system consists of Bilstein shocks
at all four corners. The power braking system consists of Wilwood
master cylinder and Wilwood Pro-Series 12-inch drilled and slotted
rotors with red calipers. This vehicle has been recently serviced
and detailed, which is all documented with an invoice that is
included. From the MS CLASSIC CARS Collection.
